The Orphans of Fakes Built a Band and Hunted LGBT
In the Kosino-Ukhtomsky district of Moscow, a group of teenagers created a gang. They pretended to be homosexuals and lured people to meetings and then beat them in the porches. The self-proclaimed “police of morals” operated for about three weeks, until its participants were detained by real security forces.
What was done to the victims?
The teenagers met their victims online and lured them to meet. Then they beat and videotaped the humiliation. Once they staged two attacks in the same entrance of a high-rise building with a difference of only a few minutes, beating first one guy on one floor, and then immediately another.
“Create a questionnaire on the website, where they agree on a meeting with people of non-traditional orientation, after which they conduct conversations with them,” the local resident said.
The teenagers played their roles so convincingly that the victims went to the meeting without suspicion. They were brutally beaten to the point of blood. One of the victims said that the attackers pushed him into the elevator and threw a firecracker there.
How the gang got caught
During the latest attack, neighbors spotted a masked crowd in the entrance and called police. The gang tried to escape, some even jumped out the window, but police caught four of them. The men immediately told me about the rest. The investigation revealed that the teenagers attacked not only because of their beliefs, but also to rob victims.
“Money was transferred to the account of one of the accused in the amount of 23,160 rubles. The second defendant was also beaten, dealt him multiple blows with hands and feet all in turn, after which they took the wallet, said Anastasia Kozhevnikova, senior investigator of the Perovsky department of the Investigative Committee in Moscow.
Criminal cases were opened against the suspects for robbery, which was committed by a group of people using violence, as well as for theft of documents. The Metropolitan Department of the Investigative Committee said that one of the beaten teenager, the attackers took away the phone, and the other was stolen passport and personal belongings.
According to REN TV, the accused face up to seven years in prison. They have already chosen a measure of restraint, but they do not say what it is. Investigators will also look into whether these teens attacked anyone else.
One of the local residents told MSK1.RU that he personally knows about the three victims: it was an adult man and two teenagers. According to an eyewitness, the attackers used knuckles during the beatings.
“The first man who was beaten knocked on our door, my mother opened it – there was a man covered in blood, asking for help. There was blood on the elevator, too, and then my mom and my roommate wiped it off. There was a gang of teenagers shouting at the victim and calling him gay. He was pushed into an elevator and thrown into a firecracker, the witness said.
He added that on October 18, while the teenagers beat the two victims and took the money, the residents of the house called the police and went out to guard the attackers at the entrance.
“As they said, they went to business seven or five people each. At the scene, five were detained, all 16, and one 14 years old, the source told MSK1. RU.
How many attacks?
The NVMP project, which monitors hate-motivated aggression online, estimated that since the beginning of the year, people have been attacked at least 23 times in Russia, considering them LGBT people. All of these cases were filmed, so there could be a lot more beatings.
“This is a really important topic because it is not limited to mere virilism (lynching disguised as a struggle for justice). MSK1.RU, as a rule, develops into systematic extortion. No one writes about it at all, MSK1 reported. RU in the project.
