Today on the news: cock.li is DOWN.
> oh no something has apparently gone very wrong and your request was lost forever. try again later?

Looks like Hakase took the whole server with her mailbox down with her.
Other theories welcome. xD

Good news (for some people) about that is that I won't receive anything from Hakase. Bad news is that nobody will get anything, since Hakase's email is from there too.

In other news:
> The board you tried to post in is currently locked.

On /meta/, /l/ and /t/ at the very least. Didn't see any point in checking it further.

 >>/10/
> her

Also, I checked /g/ and /t/ before coming here. Both locked. Perhaps he decided that he's not going to actually help out with any kind of a transition, and that if someone wants to continue nano, they have the source code and can scrape the boards themselves.

Just ran into the lock, ouch. Good thing for the alt location.

Open hardware usually means you can load your own firmware onto it and you don't have to sign a NDA to see the full documentation, like most specialized chips these days. ARM vs x86, one is RISC and the other CISC, with the latter having all sorts of "peculiarities". There's a security researcher who brute-force mapped the instruction set for a specific Intel x86 and found undocumented instructions. There's a whitepaper and recorded discussion of it online if you search for it. He described it as "godmode" to give you an idea. He also somewhat recently found a hidden subsystem (suspected to be used for chip verification at the factory) that can still be accessed in shipped chips. The subsystem allows for accessing/bypassing all sorts of things.

x86 is a bit different than ARM, in the sense that you only have two major companies that make the chips, AMD and Intel. Where as with ARM, the IP is licensed to other companies so they can make their own chips. This does not guarantee that they're safe, but it does add choices when sourcing.

It's not like I don't want to trust people and all, but the whole situation leaves just too much loose ends.

Like, all we know is what Hakase announced on Nanochan and also I know that she actually replied to me informing me about this.

Now, on what actually COULD be happening right now:
a) Hakase didn't have any intention whatsoever as on to pass on the Nanochan ownership; she just wanted a clean slate as she made a lot of poor decisions
b) the other person she talked about in the email might have never existed; Hakase is just keeping all keys to herself and that's it
c) in case the other person than Hakase actually exists and replies into the thread on 8/tech/, they might be just getting a dump from Nanochan via wget or something to parse and turn into a working Nanochan copy later

So, all in all, pretty hairy. Please say to me that I'm wring. ;P

Well, the big question about this is that what that "licensing" actually means. Does the licensee receive just some sort of "right" to use the "ISA" (the logical abstraction), or does it actually receive some IP core properties designed by ARM, or what the heck even happens? Does my question even make sense?
Like, if every little rinky-dink semiconductor manufacturer actually develops and keeps its implementations of ARM ISA all to itself, this situation is already better than with the Intel/AMD oligopoly, unquestionably. At least, it's not as easily subvertible.
But if it's the other way, like, as if ARM owns anything, it would be even worse.

BTW, did Hakase ever publish her PGP key or something? Because for all we know, glowers might just have taken over her site and took Hakase HOSTAGE.

I mean, I know it's FUDdy as fuark, and there is no proof, but I swear on me mom, I'm friendly. xD

Starfag I would be very careful with screenshot names you post. CtrlHD encodes are not usually found on public sites for example and you use different release groups which theoretically could be used to identify you especially if you did it without using Tor.

Not that I care much.
Due to the weird course events, all the boards I've visited in the past have disappeared or are dying, and all people that might care about me have either killed themselves or left chans almost entirely.
Though I agree that I could tone my avataring down a bit. Like, if SOMEONE is actually following me around, I may just be losing my privacy. This persona is fake entirely though, so you have been warned. And I'm actually curious what you might discover. xD

 >>/84/
Best thing to do is have a dedicated Tor machine/VM and not use anything from clearnet access, URLs included. URLs could have UIDs in them too so it's best to keep everything compartmentalized.

 >>/85/
That's a quite privacy loss for no good reason. Now I can assume you're Windows user with accounts on private trackers.
> Though I agree that I could tone my avataring down a bit

It's pure faggotry, imageboards are supposed to be anonymous and not like reddit or other sites that promote identity over idea.
> This persona is fake entirely though, so you have been warned

You wouldn't be taking picture of cartoon girl every few seconds if you weren't interested in the show.
> And I'm actually curious what you might discover. xD

I would deanonymize myself if I checked private sites.

 >>/109/
It doesn't matter if you download a file non-anonymously like Starfag probably did.

The new Nanochan allegedly was created, but it doesn't work for me (and anybody else, apparently).
If shit like this continues to fly, I'll be making my illegal clone. I suppose I could do it in a week maybe.

 >>/118/
All your assumptions and theories are questionable at best and it looks like you're just picking on me at this point. I have nothing to say to you.

 >>/124/
They are based on something to begin with.
> and it looks like you're just picking on me at this point

I would be lying if I said I like avatarfags, but I'm certainly not picking on you. This is friendly warning because I genuinely care about wellness of nano community and you leave too many bits of information.
