> when you say goes out on the market, wouldn't it go back to the queue?
no, because I live in sweden
it gets completely reset as if it was never available until now. we have to search it again, wait a week for applications to close and then hope we are top 5 again to get the offer, then say yes to that and then hope we are the highest amount of points of the people that say yes to the offer. if another person has more points and says yes, they get the offer and if they say yes, apartment gone. if t hey say no, reset and back on the market AGAIN
so basically, me getting top 5 in the first place is lucky. if now, when it goes back on the market, some other people that didnt open the site during the week it was available the first time around end up seeing it, they might have more days than me and then I wont be lucky enough to be top 5 anymore
ontop of that, the system is fucked up because the site is for student accom for the entire city, and all of the universities inside of it. the problem is that, I think you can start getting queue points way ahead of time before you even start uni, meaning you can be a snotty 16 year old with like 5 years of points probably. I only have 2 years, which I wouldve assumed is a lot since 80% OF THE DEGREES IN THIS CITY ARE 3 YEARS LONG but you know, you have to have finished uni to get an apartment to live in... whilst studying at uni
either way, I am never gonna be able to move out of this hell hole
also I think a major problem with this student accom shit is that the economy is so dogshit right now and nobody can find employment, so they just never move out of their student apartment. you are required to study at least 50% pace (20 hours a week) to be eligible to live in the apartments, but a lot of people get their degrees and then get jobs and just keep living in their student apartments, doing some super easy pretend courses like gender studies at 50% pace and just chatgpt all of the assignments so they can live in these cheap apartments until they have enough money to get a good, real one. basically, these apartments never empty which is why you need basically half a doctor's degree to even get one to begin with
