The old internet didn't disappear, it's mostly all still there, and the old internet not obtaining new members from the flood of retards who came in with the shartphones wouldn't be a loss, the real problem is that people left the old internet to also flood in the same spaces prepared for the shartphone retards.

Most of this decline can be actively blamed on the search engines, most of all google, which were instrumental in the centralization of attention, the monopolization of userbases, and the contol of the flow of people.
People like you OP, who ask "where are the active communities", are the same kind of people who ditched the old internet to enter the rosy traps of the modern social networks only because there was more activity there (made by retards, advertising shills, and bots), and since then have been trapped in there, and year after year got brainwashed by jews to destroy their own civilization or to be distracted and made insensible to the destruction.
