It was still a circlejerk last year, doubt something changed since. They know each other since around 2010-2011. Their particular circlejerk split off from ponychan after a moderation-related drama, if I remember correctly.

Same, it feels like imageboards are thriving much more now than when there was no 8chan around or 8chan was just getting started to be used after the exodus from 4chan, and quickly surpassed the usage of several long established chans like 420chan, 7chan, 99chan, etc.

I do like the idea of imageboards continuing to grow at steady rates, with niche chans of only a few boards sustaining a dedicated community, imageboards are superior to forums in every way in my opinion, even if many do not have archives.

Browsed it for a bit, can't say I enjoy it, I like imageboards more I suppose.

Browsing the main pages felt archaic since I'm so used to index pages and catalogs with interesting or relevant OP images, just seems like something is lost without the OP image and focus on images.

I'm just glad that imageboards exist.

Synchan has died quite a number of times over its history lul.  We started out as synchan.org in 2010, then moved to synchan.net, and now have synchan.com.  Through a series of my own incompetence and a battle with my old host we lost the *chan software I had been developing for Synchan and picked up Tinyboard ever since synchan.net.

My wholehearted dedication to developing Synchan died around 2013, but from 2013-2015 I occasionally chimed in with some updates and bug fixes either because I wanted to see it return to what it once was fueled by short bursts of delusion or I was too stubborn to see it die forever.

Recently the site routed to another project I had been working on, because I forgot to change the port in the apache configuration for synchan.com.
