> Trump blocked from using wartime law for deportations

A federal judge has blocked President Donald Trump from using a 227-year-old law meant to protect the US during wartime to carry out mass deportations of Venezuelans.

Trump on Saturday proclaimed immigrants belonging to the Venezuelan crime gang Tren de Aragua were "conducting irregular warfare" against the US and that he would deport them under the Alien Enemies Act of 1798.

But US District Judge James Boasberg on Saturday evening ordered a halt to deportations covered by the proclamation that will last for 14 days, according to media reports.

Judge Boasberg told a hearing he had heard planes with deportees were taking off and ordered them turned back, the Washington Post reported.

> The sinister psychologist who fried the brain of the real-life Ruby Tuesday confined patients to a 'Sleep Room' while administering illegal lobotomies and shock therapy - and also hosted deranged sex parties at his London home

The British model who inspired Keith Richards' hit Ruby Tuesday has lifted the lid on her time under the care of a 'monster' psychiatrist in Sixties' London.

Linda Keith, who dated the Rolling Stones guitarist as well as Jimi Hendrix, is among a growing group of women speaking out about the abuse they allegedly suffered at the hands of Dr William Sargant at London's Royal Waterloo hospital.

The well-connected doctor - with ties to MI5 and the CIA - was so powerful that he got away with brutalising and abusing mentally unwell and troubled women under the guise of 'reprogramming' their brain.

> Microbiologist reveals stomach-churning reason you should NEVER wear outdoor shoes in the house..

Wearing outdoor shoes inside could bring deadly bacteria and cancer-causing chemicals into your home, an expert has warned.

Toxic E. coli, which can trigger life-threatening kidney disease, is found on up to one in four pairs of shoes that have been worn outside, according to a new alert by microbiologist Dr Manal Mohammed.

Meanwhile, sealants used on driveways and roads known to contribute to multiple types of cancer are also likely to be trudged into your home, the medic warned.

Studies suggest there may even be 37-times the level of these substances indoors, compared to outside, as a result of dirty shoes.

Other studies have found shoes can also harbour Clostridium difficile, a bacteria that can cause diarrhoea, and staphylococcus, a bug that can cause agonising skin infections.

The company is facing a two-front war that could fundamentally reshape its business, and, the US Department of Justice argues, open new opportunities for its competitors. Last year a federal judge deemed Google an unlawful monopolist in the online search market, and this past week, a different judge declared it had monopolized the ad tech market, too. On Monday, it will face a new stage in that first battle: a three-week trial in Washington, DC to determine the appropriate remedies to restore competition to online search.

> Scientists Make A Frightening Discovery in the Atlantic That Could Trigger Uncontrollable Global Consequences

A new study has raised alarms about the potential collapse of the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC), a crucial ocean current system that plays a key role in regulating the climate. Published in JGR Oceans, the study highlights alarming changes detected in the Arctic’s Beaufort Gyre, which could have cascading effects on global climate patterns. The AMOC helps balance temperatures, particularly in the Northern Hemisphere, and the study warns that changes in ocean currents could cause profound, irreversible disruptions. If the Beaufort Gyre reaches a tipping point, it could allow a large volume of freshwater to flood into the North Atlantic, with the potential to destabilize the AMOC and trigger wide-reaching climate consequences.

> Lucy Powell’s grooming gangs dismissal shames Labour

Pressure is growing on Lucy Powell MP to resign, following her sneering dismissal of public anger over the ongoing Pakistani-majority rape gang scandal. During an appearance on the BBC’s Any Questions, commentator Tim Montgomerie asked Powell if she had seen the recent Channel 4 documentary on the rape gangs — a programme which highlighted the indifference of police and social services to these crimes, for fear of upsetting “community relations”.

> Teen best friends died 'holding each other's hands' in 75mph horror crash on the way to prom after driver ignored pleas to slow down

Kiea McCann, 17 and Dlava Mohamed, 16, died after the car they were travelling in, crashed into a tree in County Monahan, Ireland on July 31, 2023.

Anthony McGinn, 61, who was a friend of the McCann family, was put in a 'position of trust' to drive the two young girls to the Debs ball in Monaghan Town, the court heard.

Monaghan Circuit Court heard how McGinn ignored the pleas from his teen passengers to 'slow down' as he drove at nearly double the speed of a 50mph zone.

His car, a white BMW then careered and collided with a tree on the N54 at around 75mph in the Legnakelly area, killing the two girls and injuring another.

> Voyeur doctor jailed for secret filming in bathroom

A doctor who claimed he hid cameras to film friends and colleagues in the bathroom due to concerns over the size of his penis has been jailed for 18 months.

Anaesthetist Ju Young Um hid the recording devices in air fresheners and a smoke alarm in the bathroom and spare bedroom of his flat in Glasgow's west end and in staff accommodation at Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary.

Um, 34, claimed he recorded 30 different people and used the footage to compare himself to other men. He was later diagnosed as having a form of body dysmorphia.
