MUST SEE:
Night Of The Living Dead (1968)
Dawn of the Dead (1978)
Day of the Dead (1985)
Carnival Of Souls (1962)

Some other good ones:
Night of the Creeps (1986)
Night of the Comet (1984)
The Crazies (1973)
[This story is a bit different from others, it is about a military vaccine experiment gone wrong, a vaccine that turns people into violent crazy zombie-like murderers.]
The Hills Have Eyes (1977)
[Not exactly a zombie film but a good horror flick. A family taking a road trip finds themselves stranded in the Nevada desert who run into an inbred family of cannibals who lived near a nuclear test site.]
Welcome To Raccoon City (2021)
[Based on the Resident Evil video game series.]
White Zombie (1932)

The Return of the Living Dead (1985) was a fun low-budget indie film to watch.

George A. Romero had nothing to do with this one, it was Dan O'Bannon who directed it. The story takes place in the 1980s when two employees in a military storage facility accidentally damage a container containing an unknown bio-weapon. That bio-weapon is a gas that when breathed turns people into flesh eating zombies and like the other Living Dead series, once you are bitten by a zombie you too become infected.

28 days later (and pretty every other movie by it's director)

Re-Animator (though a B-movie the over-the-top acting of Jeffrey Combs makes it an all-time classic). The sequel "The Bride of Re-Animator" is worth watchign as well.

define "zombie".

a mind controlled human is a zombie.
a human with a mind altering disease is a zombie.
a dead human who remains animate ia a zombie.
a human possessed by a demon is a zombie.

there seems to be no limit on what a zombie could be like.

a living corpse would include erik draven from "the crow", johnny dingle from "my boyfriends back", and emily from "the corpse bride".

a mindlessly hostile human being could be found in many movies where the humans in question are alive and under the influence of either an infection, mind control, possession, or drug.

Too many to count, just start with the classics and when you have the time, watch more and more. Some will absolutely suck, then again some you will revel in and want to promote and perhaps share.

Some classic movies in there, I still have a copy of The Crazies on released VHS tape. Don't know if it still works, some of those old magnetic tapes go bad over the years from humidity or too much cold or hot temperatures (summer/winter conditions). I had to throw out many VHS tapes over the years because they went bad.
