We have a national security crisis, and we don't even have enough energy needed to provide both citizens and data centers. This is even scarier than the skilled workforce shortage. What happens if, or God forbid when, the government tells the power companies to cut off energy to citizens in order to power the data centers? That is actually what is being debated in the swamps of DC.

This guy is smiling trying to keep his poseur and persist but deeply crying on the inside. Deep down, he too knows.

they've already been doing effectively this for decades, rolling brownouts in residential areas in summer's peak, hottest parts of the day, to prioritize the electric grid for retailers and industry
everyone would be wise to invest in solar cause they absolutely will prioritize the data centers' needs over citizens'

The educational system failed younger Americans. College became a predatory debt racket instead of an actual job creator. The federal government became the predatory loan sharks. Instead of kids actually learning math and skills they have been turned into a walking forever-indebted piggy bank for mobsters. The smartest kids realize this before they get scammed and just drop out these days.

He's a theater kid who thinks he can talk about the nature of work and society even though he hasn't ever had to get down and dirty for any extended, genuine amount of time.

Over time those jobs do wear and tear your body and physical health sure.... BUT all these mental based paper pushing/office/research/dev coding jobs are being rapidly outsourced by AI. Not only that but many of those jobs require college degrees which in turn requires students to take on massive debt in federal student loans (aka debt slavery) and in turn the government simply garnishes your wages if not paid off. So the only solutions you have is intensive physical labor or becoming a debt slave with employment opportunities that are disappearing in demand due to AI.

Hard choice but choose wisely.
