honestly looking at the startlist who is even in play for places 3-6

roglic - chutemagnet, half asleep in the peleton most stages
memco - also positionlet, poised for a super crack because he's mentally unstable
Jorgenson - not a positionlet, ballsy rider and arguably the best contender but will have to slave for his ghoulish master

Hello I only saw the last km of le Copenhague sprint. Didn't anything of note happen and why were the big sprinters not in top 5?

 >>/20199/
The saddest thing about matteo is the team probably knows this is useless but for PR reasons they have to play the "All out, big balls, everything for the win" type of strategy that will result in him dropping.

 >>/20206/
It should have been in Vejle. Could make for a much more fun sprint with the rampas Danesas they have. But there were more money in Copenhagen so that's what we get. Maybe they'll get better with experience or some SafeR consultant will tell them what to do.

pogi should do the Siebenbürgen Cycling Tour as preparation for the tour like Demi did Catalunya just to complain at Suisse how cooked she was.

Well, well, the first half the season is now finished and we have one more entry into /WORLD TOUR WINE/ (bier) before the Tour starts!

Today we had TWO new classics -- one in Andora (which was interesting) and one in Copenhagen (which was soulless and shit). OBVIOUSLY the UCI decided to make the Copenhagen "Sprint" a WT-level race. Fortunately the race was disgraced by a completely fraudulent top 10, and there is already MUCH discussion at the highest levels about either demoting this race to 1.Pro or even removing Copenhagen altogether (the city, not just the race).

Despite frequent reassurances from the resident schizos that Danish wine actually exists and is good quality, I was not able to find any, so we are having a bier.

Carlsberg "Elephant" Premium Pilsner ($3.50)

While I've had Carlsberg a few times overseas (seems to be the default shit beer at pubs across Europe), I have never had the Elephant variant. Indeed, there is a charming elephant on the can which sports a nice pale golden color.

This pours a light honey with off white mousse, reduces quickly. The nose is a bit flat -- malt, corn, just the very lightest noble hops. The palate is actually nice, with nicely balanced apple/malt character and a pleasing bitterness to the hops. I was stunned to see that this is 7.2% which is totally absent on the palate, very nicely integrated alcohol.

Not bad at all. If I wanted to get shitfaced on beer that wasn't too heavy, this would be a good choice.

Given my ever increasing disadvantage in the /CYC/ CHAMPIONSHIP 2025, I'm now forced to start a very early Tour psyop in the form of very serious predictions.

SURPRISING WINES AND VALUE PICKS

The 2015 Mas de Boislauzon CdP Tintot (PN) was a stunner of a wine, but probably ten years too soon. I bought a few more to cellar. The 2022 Cisteller Malvasia de Stiges (Volta a Catalunya) was one of the finest whites I've had this year, very deep, profound, balanced, and very reasonably priced @ $42. My other value picks are the JL Chave Offerus (Dauphine) as well as the fantastic wild Lambrusco from the Giro.

 >>/20235/
I was really surprised by the Chouffe. I've had it before but never really tasted it thoughtfully and really liked it. Maybe I was just in a generous mood that day, but I really liked the citrus/lifted quality to it. I tend to like that sort of style more than really deep stuff

 >>/20262/
I dont get how him and also pog to some extend dont tan at all while they live in sunny places all year and spend lots of time in the sun
grug and remco are baked like lobsters but those two?

 >>/20239/
Don't think I have ever had a good hummus of a shop shelf. It was always "I have bought the whole thing I am eating the whole thing" but only because of the grim consequences for my tism if I didn't.

 >>/20282/
Good thing I was too poor as a kid because Warhammer would do me in. I've had a bookstore near my school which sold miniatures per a single figurine. The rich fags bought them and I was super envious.
Right now I am only into the lore of 40k, got some monopose figurines but I am NOT investing in paints and gear.

I think it has to be:
1. Philosophy, and I mean actual thinking and mapping it into reality not just larping, philosophy of mind should be the first one in current zeitgeist.
2. Pure math, which I know too little to propose, but those general branches like topology, group, set theories.
3. Physics, also the most abstract, including all the experimental models and their inherent contradictions.
4. Chemistry, just for the loads of, but still bounded, stuff to know and memorize and combine.
5. Electronics, engineering, /n/ stuff, interests in how clockwork things works.
6. Ciclismo and other good for body and soul interests.
7. and further on, languages, table top games, cooking and some oddballs like dinosaurs, heraldry, basketweaving.

Pretty accurate. the only thing that makes me different from most other tists is math.
I hate math. I didn't when I was young but I started hating it in high school because they wouldn't allow me to use my own methods to find an answer. The hate never went away.

I bought a new bike frame. it's a trek emonda alr rim brake version. I did get weak once it was on offer for 540€ (Suisse VAT price) on bike24.
I toyed around with the idea of building up a bike a long time ago and whenever some bike part was on big discount, I bought it. I profited from the bankruptcy of that Austrian Benko guy who owned internetstores and the affiliated online bike store brands like fahrrad.de/bikester or whatever it was called around Europe. right after brexshit Suisse was the first country to have a free trade agreement with Britain, so I did get a full shimano 105 group set for 300€ from Wiggle.

I keep my shifters straight, so I don't break any UCI rules, as the frame comes with a UCI sticker on it. also it was a really good trick installing the shifters on the handlebar first and not on the bike, as you can use the floor to align them.

and the full build. I only needed direct mount brakes and a fucking press fit (BB86) bottom bracket.
> white bar tape
yes I know, it's sexo.
> direct mount brakes
why are people using di*k brakes again? holy shit the braking power is really good. because they're the older Ultegra 8000 and not 8100 version, and did cost half of what the 8100 would have cost.
> wheels
I had them laying around, they're from Trek anyways, so it matches the bike.
> tires
thanks again Mr. Benko, those Vittoria Rubinos 25mm were dirt cheap, although they are the older pre-graphene version, but they should have a bit better rolling resistance
> bidons
from my tour de suisse haul
> press fit bottom bracket
I have no idea why you would do that on a aluminium frame, but let me squeak at it when I'm trying to get them out again.
> ultegra cranks
I wanted 52-36 front rings and it was simply cheaper buying a whole ultegra crankset than just the 105 chain rings. looking forward to them disintegrating after getting in contact with water.

rode to the Specialized Europe HQ, makes a good place to take photos of your non-spesh bike.
it was a fun first ride in windy conditions. the bike is really twitchy, but you can really take corners with this thing. I need to do a longer ride first, so far it was a good blend of comfort while still being able to feel the road buzz. just makes short intensive rides more fun.

 >>/20370/
I do, I don't like the feel of a sticky helmet on my skin and prefer wearing a cap under the helmet. I have a Pantani style bandana as well, but might as well wear a cap for some sun protection. those retro caps usually have cotton in it, if you like to retain some of your sweat, but I prefer full polyester caps.

didn't mention the chain. that full 105 groupset came with a KMC and not a Shimano chain. they cost the same, so it shouldn't matter. but I ran through a 9 speed KMC chain back in the days of oil based lubes pretty quickly and haven't used KMC since then.
I really dig the black inner plates. may they hold longer thanks to the power of waxxx.

 >>/20399/
I actually have a DT Swiss 32 Oxic rear wheel laying around, as you guessed it, I managed to get it for really cheap. I'm not keen on spending 300€ just for the front wheel, so I keep on waiting until a return shows up or the deeper 32s are on sale.

Saw a tortoise in the middle of the path in the park baking in the heat. I just rode by.

Holden: You're in a park, riding along a road, when all of a sudden you look down...
Bert: What one?
Holden: What?
Bert: What park?
Holden: It doesn't make any difference what park, it's completely hypothetical.
Bert: But, how come I'd be there?
Holden: Maybe you're fed up. Maybe you want to score eggs to impress people who are fugitives from a Himalayan gatcha forum. Who knows? You look down and see a tortoise, Bert. It's crawling toward you...
Bert: Tortoise? What's that?
Holden: [irritated by Bert's interruptions] You know what a turtle is?
Bert: Of course!
Holden: Same thing.
Bert: I've never seen a turtle... But I understand what you mean.
Holden: You reach down and you flip the tortoise over on its back, Bert.
Bert: Do you make up these questions, Mr. Holden? Or do they write 'em down for you?
Holden: The tortoise lays on its back, its belly baking in the hot sun, beating its legs trying to turn itself over, but it can't. Not without your help. But you're not helping.
Bert: [angry at the suggestion] What do you mean, I'm not helping?
Holden: I mean you're not helping. Why is that, Bert?
[Bert has become visibly shaken]
Holden: They're just questions, Bert. In answer to your query, they're written down for me. It's a test, designed to provoke an emotional response... Shall we continue?

Damn, shame you had to quit the ride so early. At least you got some k's in your legs!
For me it was a very pleasant ride, sunshine and a steady 6m/s wind and not too hot (13 degrees at the start, about 20 at the end). Did two longer bouts near LT1, first at 282W and second at 275W. It seems that the LT1 endurance falls a bit after 2h, I could still pass the talk test but the muscular effort was slightly greater by the end.

 >>/20678/
whats on the menu today, that you reach 6500 kcal? also how do you manage appetite? I just can't eat so much especially in the summer heat, not even weed munchies can help me

The Eggs i used on one of me sandwiches tasted a little funny. I threw it out after two bites, but I hope there won't be any dumoulinesque consequences.

> The energy company TotalEnergies will appear on the jersey of the Ineos Grenadiers starting from the 2025 Tour de France. And will continue for another year with the sports structure of Jean-René Bernaudeau [current Total Team] thru 2026.
is this even allowed

 >>/20679/
Well today I had a 1100kcal breakfast, then about 1300kcal during the ride (just sugar), and now I ate a 1500kcal meal with 300g white rice, 200g of chicken and about half a kilo of assorted vegetables in a stir fry with good Chinese sauces. For the rest of the day, I'll just eat a big basic dinner (for example tofu, veg and rice, or some lentil curry with rice or pasta), about 800kcal, and drink a litre of orange juice with it (500kcal). In the evening I'll eat some cereal with milk, white bread with jam, jogurt with muesli etc. to get the remainder of the energy. For me appetite doesn't really go away even in the summer heat, I guess I'm lucky as some of my mates have the same problem you describe. I guess I'd just get even more of the calories in a liquid form then (juice, chocolate milk, milk shake etc).

 >>/20683/
They'll sponsor two teams at once? Cycling is wholly dependent on sponsors so I'm sure it's allowed but UCI needs to be looking out for cases where TotalEnergie frauds openly rides to help Ineos riders.

People pretend so because we understand each other but we had little in common for the last 1000 years of history except for the little forced thing called czechoslovakia.
Czechoslovakia was the biggest mistake in our history.

UCI have officially given skjelmose the danish NC ITT back from JPP. another swift ruling by the UCI disciplinary committee.

 >>/20724/
Skjelmose was champion the whole time and he did his time trials in the Danish kit. The appeal was about Pejtersen getting his disqualification undone but in the end UCI denied it.

The way I see it, and mind you I am in the absolute minority, the issues started in the 18th/19th century, when a bunch of chuds decided to resurrect a dead language (known as czech language) just to be alternative on the internet, called the czech national revival. So instead of most people speaking german (yes farmers spoke some sort of czech, but people in cities did not) they started to go all autistic with this movement, making up new words, firebombing the opressors etc etc. Of course the Habsburgs didn't like them stirring up shit, so there was bad blood till the end of the 19th century and when WW1 ended, the czech leaders were looking to split from Austria because they were the big bullies.
And to do that, they pretended there was some sort of "Czechoslovak" nation being opressed. There is no such thing as czechoslovak nation and never was, but it was good to appear bigger when matters were decided in 1918.

In the interwar period, we spent metric shit ton of money on Slovakia. It was a desolate shithole with no infrastructure, no schools, no hospitals, no clean water. We taught them how to read, how to write, built factories, roads, railways, everything. Mind you Czech parts had GDP of 90% of Austria, while slovakia had like 5%.

Of course then came WW2, the slovaks returned all our good deeds by backstabbing us. WW2 ended and since czechoslovakia was still a thing, Yalta decided to throw us to Stalin on a silver platter, then came the 40 years of russian destruction, both physical and mental.

 >>/20728/
Read all but I knew that already heheh.
Czechoslovakia after the 2 World War also came about to water down the percentage of total population coming from any ethnic German minority that was left.
The Slovaks were always in the Hungarian sphere of influence and were kinda their Scottish, highly rural, clanish highlanders, Czechs had their own gravity, far more belonging to the cultural and societal West, yes they were controlled by the 'Burgs some time, they were almost done for after Wittenberg but had their revival and reconstruction of that cute hodge-podge language that will often mean to opposite of what normal Slavs call this or that way.

Now they're all uppity about being Germans who by some funny accident speak a Slavic language pod that is fine.
There would no Kofola, Lentilky or Krtek without all that and that would be NOT ok.

> “It may sound strange, but Jonas has actually been the perfect experiment,” Heemskerk says when he talks about Vingegaard’s training mentality. “In terms of ‘compliance’, adhering to the schedules, he does everything down to a few decimal places, so to speak.”

> “If you tell him to train for five hours in a certain zone, he will ride those five hours in that zone. He understands very well that you can discover exactly what works well and less well for him based on perfect training schedules. Many riders continuously deviate a little from their schedule. They ride 10 watts harder and turn five hours into five and a half hours. Not Jonas. Four hours with VO2 intervals is also 4 hours with VO2 intervals.”

> “In drawing up those schedules, he gives us as coaching staff the utmost confidence. Incidentally, that is not blindly training like a robot, as is sometimes suggested. That is simply understanding why following a schedule is better.”

I love the last part, no he's not a robot he's just a good goy

 >>/20764/
the absolute state of modern cycling. reminds me of what Christian Horner said about the training in his days: constant malnourishment and every ride should be 5h+ and z3-z4 all the time

I enjoyed it shit ton when it was new and simple.
Then they added campaign and shiet and was just too hard to play without all sort of mods. It's also in Unity engine which is garbage and slow as fuck. 90% off is a good price though.

the game doesn't scale well to bigger projects/any long term ideas/campaign. the great joy is flinging kerbals into orbit and occasionally landing them somewhere. He still has 1.5 years with Q36.5 left.

> Do you still understand? Johan Price-Pejtersen was Danish time trial champion, then not, then again and now the final verdict has been given by the UCI disciplinary committee: not after all. That means that Mattias Skjelmose will definitely go down in history as the winner of the 2024 Danish time trial championship.

Bora doesn’t need to control or pull when UAE and Visma are there and Roglic and Lipowitz, so I guess it kind of makes sense not to bring more mountain domestiques and maximizing your chances of winning in other terrains instead. But Pithie instead of van Gils is weird. Van Gils was great in the Dauphine and Pithe has been bad all year.

 >>/20903/
especially with a chute merchant like rog, only having vlasov and lipowitz[who will assumably be also working for himself] on hard days in the group seems an unnecessary risk for another rouleur for the meeus train. they have too many good climbers to not send another to the TDF. are they really sending hindley, DNF, pelizzari, van gils, lazkano AND fisher-black to the vuelta?

Two years later, Merckx came second again. And in 1974, the Tour passed over the Ventoux. Merckx won all three editions, and won the Tour de France a total of five times.
