In Czech'em, it is really difficult to get spare parts for the 11 speed Shimanos. Chain rings sold out, derailleurs mostly sold out, brakes are gone too. Casettes no problem so far.
I can't imagine having even older bikes like those with 10s speeds and older, you would need to go scavenge thru some weird european shops and hoping for your luck.

Also, parcel boxes are such a QoL upgrade it's unreal.
> ordered 18:50
> shipped 19:10
> arrives to parcel box tomorrow 14:00

also I think 11 speed shimano is discontinued
there is shimano tiagra 11 speed maybe that is compatible, there is also shimano CUES 11 speed but fuck knows what that is, looks like gravel to me. It's really expensive for what it is

in any case a weak cyclist doesn't use the small cogs and he has (should have) small chainrings so he doesn't need lots of tight gaps until 17 or 19t. You could do something like 13-36 with 10 speed and the same spacing as 12 speed 10/11-36 and it would be fine.
Whatever

I recently talked with a mate about cassettes who was pissed that everything starts with 10/11t nowadays (used to be different?) because he would also much rather prefer cogs up to 40 with 12 or 13t smallest cog and similar spacing
his schizo theory is that they don't do that because they need to limit gearing progress artificially so the people who want that immediately upgrade their groupset when it becomes available with 13/14 speed

it's time to get new tires again, these GP5000 TR 28mm haven't lasted as long as I'd like, the rear tire especially is very worn down for a pretty expensive tire

need some recs; 28-30mm would be ideal

In Polska there is a quite a ruckus, obviously justified, about exorbitant earnings of docs.
Usually it comes up when a doc also has a seat in local council thus he needs to disclose his property.
One asshole in year one after being done with his specialization (29 years old) already had 5m in immobilieres (pardon, "real estate", what does it even mean or convey) or over 1m Euro and 400k Euro of salaries a year.
It is because they have 3-4 jobs, often at exact same hours, in public and private clinics. It's in the public ones where they ask and get 150 Euro per hours.
That is possible because of doc shortage which is the result of university limits on medicine studies which are heavily lobbied by the doc council itself.
There are many hundreds of docs like that one.

I'd imagine these are your Look+Campa double punch enthusiasts.

 >>/94606/
I wouldn't mind a great, experienced physician to earn 400k, let him earn a million.
But these are opportunistic assholes who work 3 jobs at the same time, they sleep it off in their fourth job in the public hospital while all they do is 5 minutes of barely looking at you and writing a referral to a specialized doc or charging you 50 euro for the same thing in their private practice.

Endocrinologists earn on average slightly more than their counterparts in California. Want to fix your hormones somewhere even more expensive, Caliberts?
I can be your translator.

 >>/94610/
It's actually the opposite. Salaries in bum-fuck-ville are massive (because they need to pay that much to attract and keep physicians), while physicians will be paid less for jobs in "attractive" places like big cities or prestigious academic positions.

One of my cousin's husbands is a cardiologist in rural Texas and he basically has his own castle.

And he drinks more expensive wine than I do.

 >>/94609/
These are ok earnings for the declared avg, probably 1 std range. 2-2.5x the average salary.
The average salary calculation is arse anyways here, it only counts enterprises above 10 people. True average is probably closer to 0.5 what the official is.
In socialist paradise Europe the salaries are often capped and negotiated as our sort of CBA.

And if they just double, tripple dipped but did their job and didn't bi- or tri-locate.

Vittoria Corsa N.EXT TLR or Continental Grand Prix TR (without the 5000).
I'm happy with the Grand Prix (tubed version), they are holding up pretty well. I'm using the older model though that was still made in Germany. these days they make the non-5000s in China. Vittorias are made in Thailand.

my reasoning was that you get more miles, um kilometers out of the second tier of tires. the prime objective of the OG corsa and GP 5000 are racing. for training you can take the higher rolling resistance penalty and get longer lifespan, higher puncture protection and grip. if cost is an issue you could get something like the Conti Ultras instead.

 >>/94646/
I'm not one of these 10k km per year guys, but I get at least a season out of GP5000s. I usually end up changing them because I do some panic braking maneuver that totally destroys them. They're pretty resilient

 >>/94673/
 >>/94674/
I've seen some big guys in the local races rocking Sram 56/43 and 54/41 chainrings paired with 10-33 and 10-36 cassettes. I've been thinking of going 52/39 and 10-33 in the future with the lack of any climbs around here, but 56/43 would be fun as well

 >>/94676/
I raced with a 10-28 last year, was really nice otherwise but in the one race with a steep hill I found that 50/37 front wasn't enough on the last laps to execute my sprint. The difference between 10-33 and 10-28 is really just the 16t that's missing, nothing too dramatic for racing (in training it can sometimes be a bitch for prolonged intervals)

 >>/94675/
I ride 54/40 but if I did road racing I would go 1x with 56 or 58 for that, even on the hilly courses I've raced I found that my speed never dropped below 20 km/h and 1x 58 still covers that.
 >>/94676/
not anymore everything current gen is at least 28t and for shimano there's nothing smaller than 30t

 >>/94679/
well they did indeed broaden the range with 11-36. Technically there is a 11-28 dura ace cassette but I don't think any shop actually has that I think it's only available for pros. I think almost everyone buys 11-34 anyways from what I read it's by far the one most in demand and new bikes also usually have it on

> The 2026 Canadian Gravel Championships in Duncan, British Columbia descended into absolute chaos on Sunday as blistering heat ripped through the peloton, forcing riders to abandon with heat stroke and ultimately bringing the national championship to a shocking halt.

> By midday, the Cowichan Valley had turned into a furnace. Temperatures surged toward 35°C, and the heat began tearing through the field. Riders were collapsing with heat exhaustion before the halfway point, support crews were overwhelmed, and the medical tents were already full.

> With the men’s race deep into the decisive phase, Cory Wallace launched an early attack before being reeled in. A powerhouse trio — Mike Woods, Benjamin Perry, and Andrew L’Esperance — broke clear and were driving the pace when chaos struck.
> At the top of the final descent, with 35 km to go, officials stopped two of the leaders and told them the unthinkable:
> The race was cancelled.

> In the women’s race, Haley Smith, Kaitlyn Rauwerda, and Lucy Hempstead had formed the day’s elite breakaway. But when the women’s peloton reached the finish area, they were met not with a finish line… but with officials announcing the race was over.

Dumb chatbot, confirmed for not paying attention to the sport. Bernal was hyped up as the new GT king since 2016 basically, Pogacar won Tour de l'Avenir in 2018 and had crazy results in all of 2019 and Quintana already showed a big potential in 2012.

> In Belgium, a motorist has been sentenced to 27 years in prison for killing seven people in 2022. He drove into a group of carnival revelers in the Walloon village of Strépy-Bracquegnies. Shortly before that, he was driving at 174 kilometers per hour, where 50 is permitted. The judge called the 38-year-old man "a madman behind the wheel" and accused him of "utter contempt for human life." The sentence is in accordance with the prosecution's demand. Immediately after the verdict, the man was detained. Until now, he had been at large with an ankle monitor. A friend who was also in the car received a two-year suspended sentence because he did not help anyone after the collision.

27 years, here it would have been 3 months and a suspended license for 2 years. Friend who didn't help anyone, how to say these people were "Belgians" without saying it

They did.

Reusser is a trained medical doctor. Chabbey is a trained medical doctor.
and current Swiss NC Häbberlin is a trained medical doctor.
I guess they don't earn as much as Polish doctors in Poland and have to ride their bike to earn money.

the riders are entering the second night, temperatures are much more moderate this time with 20-25C depending on rider location.

leader of the race is still (with a big margin) last years winner Philipp KAIDER (AT) who has already 1200km and 8000m of elevation done in 1d 12h, with just 1h52m of stopping time so far, which comes to a 33,8kmh moving avg. absolutely insane!

> Irish youth cyclist Shane O’Brien has died in a tragic accident at the age of 16. According to the police, he crashed into a parked truck during training on Tuesday and O’Brien died at the scene. His brother Liam O’Brien (21) was riding in the Giro Next Gen at the time and has withdrawn from the race.

Crevaisoned again, same spot, looks like I did not remove some little piece of debris and now I know I cannot remove it at all without punching a hole through the tire, tiny little pointy shit refuses to leave, very judesque.
New tire and gums on the way.

> Žigart was unable to keep up with the best riders on the two climbs in the final stages.
> She ended up in a chasing group, but ultimately did not reach the finish.
> The press officer for AG Insurance-Soudal confirmed the news regarding the Slovenian rider afterwards. Now, footage of the crash has also surfaced.

> The footage shows Žigart riding at the front of her small group.
> Just before entering the final kilometer, she bounces over a speed bump and loses control of the handlebars.
> What follows is a nasty crash involving several other riders as well.
> It is not yet clear what the extent of the damage is for Žigart and the others involved.

the bump is in the road book
they had the chance to preride the finish as it was the starting place
2 police men with trillers and a sign in their hand were standing next to it
van dam already almost crashed before them, the DS and radio tour had more than a minute to warn the next riders
and yet it still happened

There were many psyops flying around but I think it was pretty clear that the consensus is that this race is not it.
Especially since he had a shit season and would rather be golfing, also didn't look like he cares about TdF a whole lot.

I have a social hour every week but my team is really cool, the shitskin unironically is the funny guy and we instigate a lot of shits and giggles for the rest.
I have immediately put him off "brothering" me in the beginning and I have also zero doubt he would still try to convert me or cut my head off if the situation would demand it but I think I would be beheaded with one clean shot, not like orange jumpsuiters.

The riders are entering the third night. 6 DNFs already, but at the front of the field, the order is basically unchanged with the Austrian Philipp KAIDER still with a MASSIVE lead (250km+) over the competitors. He has the last big climb before him, up the Cuchara Pass at over 3000m, after that 2500km of flat windy straight highway roads through Kansas etc are following
