Because atheists only believe in physical stuff (physicality), they tend to create an exaggerated/unhealthy psychological attachments to material goods. Consumerism and greed are just some related consequences.
Also, some of them tend to be unappreciative about mental activities as well.

We have no attachments to material goods.
While matter is important (it's the base of reality), our main focus/interest goes into the advancement of consciousness and administration/morality (spirituality). Mind over matter.
