Old people aren't eternally wise by default, they have to work it out.
The same happen with experienced people, no matter how many times something happen to you it is not enough to guarantee earning wise wisdom out of it.

Old just means a person lived that amount of years. He could make the dumbest decisions through his whole life.
And being experienced is one thing, a person needs wisdom to process that experience and develop himself from the result.
