Being faster (or slower) than the reality around you, in my experience genuinely leaves one less attuned to the happenings around oneself. Fast = quick processing, brighter light, pieces moving into place, awakenings, revelations. 
Slow = Stagnant etc.
Sometimes going too fast shuts down or over stimulates the nervous system - causing headaches, anxiety, shaking body, over-stimulation etc.
