There was 8chan, right? But the engine sucked it was a copypasted mess, so they started to work on InfinityNext. But it went slow, and couple other dudes took Lynxchan and forked it quickly into InfinityNow, and put this site up, with similar "user created and managed boards" setup.
This was in 2015 December.
