When I was in grade school, I saw kids playing something like that, maybe it was Warhammer? They also played gay card games, polemon? MtG? Idk, had zero interest in collecting gay cards, had no money, I played actual games like dodgeball or tetherball. Then we played D&D for like a whole year before it got boring but we used 2e and our characters always died lvl 1 to 3, making a new character was always the most fun part about it.

Host joined some Warhammer games in school but it was extremely expensive (all tin figurines) and took days. The gameplay was terribly unbalanced as well in 2nd edition of WH40K. Whatever was the last thing released was ridiculously OP because Games Workshop wanted you to buy it. Rulebooks in German were hilariously bad translations as well. But it had Soul. Did you know they had SS-Nazi orcs?

I have a weird prediction 

I have thought that AI companies will eventually fail, not enough people are going to fund them. Angel Investors will get out with IPOs and they will fail. There's not only not enough market for it, users quickly realize they are basically retarded.

So the big business that just needs a few more months to get out (before failing) will get desperate and I think they will stage a "break out" of AI which will lend credence to the efficacy of AI, basically a big guerrilla marketing campaign.

Late 2026 to 2027, and US will be in recession next year, big time. Then I can get my 2020-2024 4runner cheap.

We thought that at the beginning, but not so sure anymore. AI is the new google. NPCs can't do without ChatGPT anymore. People aren't paying for googling either, they pay with having their personal data being collected and sold to ad companies. Same will happen with agentic LLMs. Imagine how much info they can collect from a user with full device access and constantly being fed real-life data and the most intimate details. It's a gold mine for ad companies. The AI agent will then constantly pester you with product suggestions. This is the way it's going to be. More specialized things like pay-per-token are questionable. Indeed people aren't going to pay to create AI porn, which is becoming illegal almost everywhere on top of that. Businesses will have to pay for AI to stay competitive though. So no, sadly I don't see the bubble bursting.

I'm 50:50 on the AI bubble burst. The amount of money flowing into this is crazy. But so is the demand. I can imagine Alice is right that in a few years everyone will have an AI agent subscription. Nobody will navigate the internet by typing in things anymore, and most people will be unable to even do this. Like using command line.

Here everything is going AI and the government is actively promoting it with a a national AI strategy. We have an AI agent at work for internal and external communication in government agencies. It's a semi-open environment afaik. I looked it up, it's called Artificial Intelligence Government Cloud Cluster (AGCC) and uses Google Cloud. It's hosted in Singapore and gives access to google AI infrastructure. So I imagine we pay a lot of money to google. It's a mixed approach. We don't build LLMs from scratch but we host them here and pay the AI companies for it. I guess a lot of critical infrastructure worldwide uses the same approach.

I know two people who use "AI" only one of them could be considered to use an agent, he likes it, the other is slowly being turned off by the fact that it keep making shit up that's clearly wrong.

Yes, that's the point. AI will make people so dumb they will depend on AI for their daily lives. Perfect business model. I don't think there's a way back to Web2.0. Soon there will be no more websites and no more keyboards or panels to click on. Only AI agents navigating the

Comparing LLM to the advent of the internet is a false equivalency, no one ever boo'd the mention of the internet.

Hmm, i don't know. I used to think it was the late 90s but frankly everything was shit back then. Dirty and ugly and the quality of all products was abysmal. Soviet-tier. So maybe you are right and the good old days are right now. But even a pessimist like me hasn't given up on the idea that things might actually still get a bit better. But looking ahead 10 years - I'll be mid-50s, most of my family will have died from old age. My cats will have died from old age. The vast majority of the population will be muslim sandniggers. There will be total AI surveillance. We won't be able to hold a conversation like this. So yeah, I guess that's it...
