A thread for all your FPS needs. A non-exhaustive list of good FPS:
Multiplayer
Quake
Unreal Tournament
Tribes
Xonotic
Counterstrike

Singleplayer
Doom
Marathon
Serious Sam
E.Y.E
FEAR

What was the last FPS you played?
What did you enjoy about it?
What mechanics or design elements set it apart from other games?
Lovely Planet is actually a pretty fun FPS, though it's less about staying alive and more about platforming and finishing the levels as quick as possible.

The music is pretty good and it actually becomes really fucking tough, even if you're good at FPS games. It also has secrets but with how the levels are designed it feels like they don't even want me to look for them.

While both solid games on their own, the game REALLY shines in the community levels. Doom 2's levels can be lacking in some areas, but its enemy and weapon variety are fantastic.
Don't enable jumping or crouching, it's not designed for that and you can break the levels pretty easily.

If you haven't yet, be sure to run through Quake sometime too.

Been playing Swarmlake after discovering it during the summersale thread on 8. It's an arcade survival shooter like Devil Daggers with verticality, worse enemy and sound design, as well as a scoring system based on picking up enemy drops. It has less depth than Devil Daggers but is a decent time waster. Other than that I'm mostly replaying games I already beat, like Unreal and the Serious Sam games.

Do you have any upcoming games you're interested in?
Sam 4 never ever

TF2 was kinda good but gets boring after some time. The hole "class system" is easy to enjoy(all of them are unique, but i never managed to like the soldier), and even after all the years TF2 is still fun.
Is the original Duke nukem any good? i had it when i was younger but i did not enjoy it.

I just finished FEAR Extraction Point.
That was a wild ride, especially at the end. The spooky parts were great.

I really wish the hospital levels were longer though because they looked a lot better graphically.
The game handles anything that's not a strict indoors area very poorly.

I heard Perseus Mandate was shit, so I'll just skip that one.
It might be time to finally try EYE.

I liked how the morgue changed from spooky to clean after you resolve Alma's shit.

More of the same with lower quality and silly additional guns and enemies.

its a very "odd" game, but very fun for at least a while(for me it was extremely fun for many hours). Its got good replay value too with the different builds you can make but maximum jojolegs are hard to do without. if you like being a goodgoy i still suggest piracy because its not a typical game and you may not get your moneys worth out of it.
