Perfect for my 60 minute BIG ride tomorrow

I am still yet to go on a road bike ride.
But I have become conscientious towards it, or in general in everything not only when I feel like it so:

> need to check and fasten all the bolts that need to be fastened
> got my torque wrench
> have to wait for 3/4 inch bits to arrive because I have only 1/2 and 1/4 inch ones
> only then can i sit on it
> then i will, ride to the car wash
> car wash! whoawhoawhoa
> clean the chain and drivertrain that was already cleaned before winter
> ride back, dry bike in the sun
> apply rohloff oil
> reindex anything that needs to be reindexed
> check brakes
> charge gombuder
> charge heart rate monitor
> inflate tires to target presh

Only then I will be ready to go.

Phew, haven't done proper vo2max workouts in a while so this wasn't too fun. 3x6min + 4x3min, first three at around 430W and the last four at 430-450W. Legs aren't used to these kind of intense efforts haha, hopefully it will get better with time

Also, my rim brake bike project is getting closer to completion. Yesterday my Parcours Grimpeur wheelset arrived – under 1300g at 41mm rim height with modern rim dimensions, great. I put some lightweight TPU tubes in and 28mm Continental GP5000 non-tubeless versions. The goal is to have a bike that I can ride anytime without thinking about electronics or dried sealant, so tubes + fully mechanical Dura Ace is the way. I have my Dura Ace 9100 groupset ready, aside from still waiting for my Cybrei crankset to arrive, and the bike will be shipped from Ireland tomorrow. I hope it arrives early last week so I can have it all set up before I leave for Mallorca next week's Saturday. Should be fun to ride the mountains with a 6kg bike. I will post pictures when it is finished.

 >>/70039/
I have my main road bike (Quick pro) that I ride most of the time, then the Fairlight gravel bike with fenders that I ride either in bad weather or when I want to ride on mixed surfaces, then a dedicated gravel bike with bigger tyres, and now this rim brake one for long summer rides when I don't want to think about aero or anything. The three I mentioned see a fair bit of use, though I mainly use the dedicated road and gravel bikes in dry weather as I don't really have time to be cleaning my bikes all the time. Because of the upcoming baby I will probably spend quite a lot of time on the raper this year even when it's fine weather, though.

 >>/70044/
Well I do ride quite frequently as long as it's not snow and ice outside which it has been since December. And during the work week I get my laps in at the park because it's convenient. Weather finally turned this week so I did my spring bike tuning and now it's all ready to go

Who are you with the inquisition

> Amidst the challenging ascent of Via Santa Caterina during the 2018 race, Wout van Aert battled debilitating leg cramps in the final stretch. The harsh weather further intensified the already demanding race conditions. Just before reaching the summit of Via Santa Caterina in Siena, van Aert succumbed to cramps and toppled off his bike, grappling to regain composure

speaking of assiomas and death I've been looking through a German forum today and I found a thread where someones assioma axle broke clean off while he was doing easy spinning, rode 20k home one legged
apparently there was a recall of assiomas made within a certain time frame and those were among them

when you hold the pedal body here and the crankarm in other hand, there is a little will, you can make it rattle manually and there's nothing you can do to stop it
two years ago I even bought replacement parts for assioma and they worked for tree months and then it was business as usual

unless it is a different issue, i just lube it up and it's okay for another 3-6 months unless I get rained on a lot

 >>/70198/
it doesnt do the rattling if you apply the watts only on the upwards motion, that is generally dead giveaway it's the pedal

 >>/70199/
I would just buy a power2max crank 2bqh they had a massive price cut recently, unless you're planning to swap the pedals between bikes very often or really want to keep your shimano / campag / etc crank it's probably outright cheaper as well

> The mountain stage to Auron in Paris-Nice seems cursed. In 2024 and 2025, the organizers were already forced to adjust the course due to poor weather conditions, and this year's outlook is bleak as well. According to the latest forecasts, the riders can prepare for snow and wintry temperatures.

 >>/70471/
I've pondered and option where I zag and think maybe AYUSO is too expensive and should be out, then I can pick so many more riders (VAUQUELIN would surely be loaded then) but didn't want to go complete goombler.
Jonas was staying almost no matter what.

 >>/70479/
I have already picked Onley. And yes, not going to predict that your guy is going to chute out, worked only once by stupid luck when I didn't pick no big guy when they all crashed on that root bump in asphalt in Itzulia.

> Sporza received information from Victor Campenaerts' entourage that Campenaerts had personally sewn the chamois leather from Vingegaard's long cycling shorts before the start of the race, so that he could put it on over his other shorts.

> Les ineos ont laissé tomber Vauquelin pour Onley. Nous verrons si leur calcul est bon ??? Dommage quand même que Vauquelin ait été aussi inattentif, quand on est 2eme au général, c’est incroyable !

> On closer inspection it became clear that he was not only doubling up on shoe covers, but on the bib tights themselves, and had opted to throw a highly-modified set of team-issue tights over his usual cold weather gear to stay warm
> the eventual stage winner was wearing a second jacket beneath his outer one, worn backwards, with the front zip now at the rear undone. This would have provided an extra windproof barrier on the front, but maintained some semblance of breathability on his back, presumably with the aim of not reducing him to a sweaty mess.

> Adam Yates: “The level of the current peloton is insane. I am breaking power records left, right, and centre and still not winning.”

> “Last year I'd say it was one of my worst years, but I was the best I've ever been in terms of power. OK, I really struggled in the Giro, and obviously helped Tadej in the Tour, but other than that, I was breaking power records and still not winning, so take that as you will."

> "The big difference I'm seeing is that everyone is just full gas from the start of the year. I remember going back a couple of years, and my level wasn't super high at the UAE Tour, but I was still up there on the podium.”

> “Every year it's getting harder and harder to win races, and even these races now at the start of the year, the level is super, super high, even in Oman I was doing power records, left, right, and centre and there's still guys in the wheel and a lot of guys still fighting, so it's just getting harder and harder."

> "A lot of the young guys, well, they know more than me, to be honest. There was a big jump at the beginning of the 2020s, with everyone getting more professional, more focused, even now people are doing altitude in the off-season and not really having off-seasons, and rethinking what is normal in bike riding.”
< a big jump at the beginning of the 2020s, with everyone getting more professional, more focused
is the peloton hitting levels of dopage previously thought impossible?

Im fuckin worried. If he snatches away MSR and PR from grug this year he defeated cycling. Strade showed he can easily push 40 watts more for 80km and he's bulked + more aero this year.
Grug better be able to go nuclear.

 >>/70599/
I've been calling this in the offseason when Grug was fucking around for social media, if Pog makes any improvement (he has made multiple) we need a 110% Grug and even that may not be enough. MSR might just fall

 >>/70660/
Oh yeah, that SHIT won't stop squeaking under me boot. I did an experimental attempt of putting bearing grease as near of the target spot as possible and then spraying it with just a dab of WD40.
The idea is the WD40 will dilute some of the grease and make it more fluid so it gets into the crack more easily and I don't have to unscrew the pedal and do it properly.

 >>/70663/
Bear with me, this is a Slav speaking, accustomed to some wacky solutions, if it is dumb but it works it is not dumb. Just a dab of WD40 hoping whatever it does to degrease stuff will be not enough to saturate the Park Tool whatever 001 grease and make it watery, penetrating.
Otherwise the bearings might not bear it hehe.

 >>/70669/
 >>/70677/
Yes, that's what I was going for with this incredible comedic touch.

 >>/70683/
Shan't be buying more shite, I am just lazy and don't even want to go through unscrewing the pedal from the crank arm.
There's also a question if you can even disassemble these specialized plastic rubbered pedals but I guess if I could powerwash them to the point of squeaking (not deliberately) then I can get into the bearings without breaking anything.

> While Pogacar took a different approach. “You have to know something. As far as I know, Tadej didn't do an altitude training camp at nineteen. He rode for the Gusto Ljubljana team. I can say he won his first Tour while eating pizza, drinking beer, and playing PlayStation. I think he's a real natural. The young guys joining us now already have a lot of experience. They've trained at altitude for a month and are used to being away from home for long periods. That's a completely different approach,” says the Slovenian.

I was supposed to do 2-3x20min at 360-370W, still under threshold but very close to it. Dunno why but today the legs were very weak, the first 20min was really pushing it and I had to lower the targets significantly for sets 2 and 3. Nice 34 eggs farmed still but I hope I'm not getting sick again or anything.
 >>/70717/
Lel, at least Jonas is not taking anything he wouldn't give to his daughter

 >>/70730/
Speaking of toddlers on rapers one of my clubmates bought a used old kickr core and put his 11y old kid's bike on it, and they've now done some 1h zwift rides together. He says the kid likes it surprisingly much, they gamify it by giving some treats/candy for every x kilometer done or something. I'm more looking forward to riding the trails with my kids though, my 2.5y old daughter already really likes her balance bike and I hope she'll learn to pedal maybe next year or the year after.

 >>/70731/
Jesus that's sad. Let a kid be a kid holy fuck. Reminds me.lf those football dads forcing their kids to play footy all the time in hopes that the kid will fulfill their own failed dreams, but they just end up as burned out nobodies

 >>/70732/
 >>/70733/
You'd be surprised how much kids just like to imitate their parents at a certain age. Like my daughter is obsessed by bikes and especially repairing them since she often sees me pedaling on the raper. Some of her favourite things to do are pumping up tyres, "repairing my bike" (putting a screwdriver into the wheel's thru axle hole, brushing the cassette with a soft brush etc) and playing with the brakes on my road bike. Every time she sees me on the raper she says she wants to go ride her bike as well.

 >>/70742/
well pedals are subject to wear of course and I wouldn't call that the gold standard by any means. They are generally speaking a very good product though for pedals but the downside is that the powermeter is attached to a wear item

 >>/70741/
 >>/70742/
Assiomas still are the gold standard, 99% work exceptionally well. It's just Bertaczek being unlucky as hell with his pair (and probably the Duo-Shi is a worse design anyway). I'd buy a second pair of Duos in a heartbeat if I needed new power meter pedals.

I am btw also doing maintenance on my Assioma Duos, I will replace the bearings since they've seen over 1000h of use already and don't roll that freely anymore. But I know I would fuck it up somehow so I just bought the new bearing set and will bring the pedals to the LBS so they can fix them. I don't have the required tool for it anyhow.

 >>/70769/
no you don't understand the powermeter HAS to stay on and the training plan MUST BE FOLLOWED
even when you're on vacation you need to have a powermeter with you, deviating from the exact plan for even a week is not allowed

PAUL SEIXAS
@lapreuvepar21
@lapreuvepar21
  :
@lapreuvepar21
  le flashera ⏱️⚡️ certainement à l' étape 2 sur ⛰️ San Miguel de Aralar (déjà gravi sur la Vuelta en 2014 (Aru 27min29s 417 watts étalon) et 2020 9.5 km à 7.7%) sur l'étape 4 ⛰️: Elorritxueta (4.3 km à 8.1%) et Legina (3.2 km à 8%), sur l'étape 5 : ⛰️ Krabelin (5 km à 9.6%) et Izua (4.1 km à 9.2%, avec le record de Vingegaard en 2023 11min22s à 504 watts étalon qu'il peut battre.
Ce serait plus que trop.
Alors, talent ou imposteur selon vous ? Vous attendez un peu ?

good question I wonder if it's possible to answer that. You would also have to see how far you can starve a man down until he loses power at a higher rate than w/kg goes up, I reckon that would also differ from rider to rider

Most of the pure climbers that do LBL and Lombardia as their only classics are distancelets, they are incapable of going solo early. It's guys like Healy and Pidcvck who I guess would be problems.

I still think that if he put it as his number one priority (which, yeah, he never will) he could be competitive against those guys.

 >>/70959/
Healy, pidcuck, seixas now .
Del Toro could show up in the future if pogi doesn't show.
Honestly ciccone can drop him, there will always be riders.
He got 3rd a few years ago because of gigantic slurpage he was able to sneak back in the group and sprint for 3rd.

> Jonas Vingegaard is in yellow, and therefore he is a kind of leader of the peloton in this special situation. He believes that it could very well end in a strike if the finish line for today's stage is not moved.
> - Yes, I would almost assume that. There are still some teams that want to race, but I hope that we can stand together at least, says Vingegaard and talks about his role as the leader of the field:
> - I have to be at the forefront of the riders' safety, and I will do that. I have to help make sure that we stand together and make sure that cycling races are safe.
> Vingegaard emphasizes that the problem is not the massive rain and the fear of illness, but rather the safety of the riders if they have to ride on snowy roads close to the finish line.
The problem is not driving in the rain, the problem is that they are stubborn about keeping the finish line where it is, and where it is snowing.

Yeah, no way they are riding today
