Buddhists practice techniques/meditations to reach a level with no (bad) desires, with no attachments; they call it nirvana.
They believe that nirvana is the ultimate spiritual goal of the Buddhist path that leads to liberation from the cycles of rebirth.
We have desires and goals, but our desires go beyond what normal humans want (God's desire, God's goal).
Benevolence is to have only good desires, and it is a requirement for the members of God's Community.
We have the no attachments idea too, but it is not exactly as some Buddhist teachings, because you can have attachments to material things, but without reaching pathological/problematic levels.
