There is nothing from today, but I see some deletions from yesterday.
The global deletion seems to be a thread, which was a cp spam (it is among other deletions in a row).
I see deletions on behalf of the board staff, it seems couple of posts were reported as "vipe/wipe", these reports were closed and deletion followed. You can see the post numbers there, I don't know if they match the post you are writing about.
I can't really reply to your questions beyond this, this is all I know.
Users always have the option to open a new board, or post on a different board if they aren't satisfied with the moderation of one.
But if the content deemed to be illegal, based on US laws, it still might be deleted.
