Think I am going to forgo a road bike ride and just go get lost on an unmapped ride on me MTB, innawoods.
Just with the general direction of kurwasee, what will come we shallsee, hehe.
Bananas in me pouch, water in me bidon, let's go.

Fucken prices on kurwasee.
Belgian waffles, plain, not even A5 page sized - 2.5 euro.
Belgian waffles, with powdered sugar - 3.5 euro.
Belgian waffles, with strawberry jam - almost 5 euro.

The resolute, frugal, and math oriented bert I am I have bought a lime slushie boldly called granita - half frozen water with some artificial flavoring, 500ml - 2.5 euro.

The races are coming thick and fast in this last part of the season, and so comes another SENSATIONAL edition of /WORLD TOUR WINE/ !!

I actually botched this one a bit, as this bier I drink for stage 2 of le Tour de Renewi, but drank it so deep into Burger Hours that I didn't post it. Keep an eye out for a SECOND edition of /wtw/ for today's Vuelta stage!!

Arabier ($7)

This is a Belgian strong pale ale made just west of the course. This has a very charming parakeet on the bottle and features a bow-tie.

Pours a deep cloudy blonde with incredible mousse, maybe the best of the year. The nose is a bit flat, just some hoppy zestiness and lemon. The palate is all peppery hops and restrained malt. Finish is noble hops, no alcoholic burn or sweetness.

Really nice, I feel like if I lived in Belgium, this would be my go-to bier because it just drinks so well, but it's not terribly complex or interesting. Sometimes that's ok. Good!

 >>/38561/
This is my belgian brewery (outside of the classic lambic one ofc). You should try as much as you can from them, especially the reserva ones. The only brewery that I can think of that is a "must buy" for all their beers is brasserie franche montagne in Jura (Suisse)

how are we feeling not-jonas pickers? so who is going to win la vuelta now?
meanwhile bertaczek is bonking somewhere far away from civilization and missing all the action today.

Very belgiquesque profile

As for me, I rode this accursed Pico again, 5th or 6th attempt and not once did I ride it well. Again, just mediocre watts.
Otherwise lovely weather, base layer, spring jersey and a wind jacket and the downhill was cold as fuck.

 >>/38660/
It's not about appearance of the cork to see whether it is corked, it's just that the cork is affected by a fungus that produces TCA. It can just happen if wine is bottled under natural cork.

 >>/38664/
If it were one of my usual wine shops, I would return it (please see the corked bottle of Lopez de Heredia Vina Tondonia from the second stage of Itzulia Basque Country that I successfully exchanged). I just happened to buy this one at a shop I don't normally use that I was driving by one day. I can't blame the shape, this is a fault from the winery.

So just like that the penultimate stage race of the 2025 /CYC/ CHAMPIONSHIP season has ended, we're still due Tour de Bongland, where a cheeky bert might want to pick both KOOIJ and BRENNAN but also sixteen (16) classics, starting with Plouay last day of August. Probably seventeen as the Euros have to be stuck in there somewhere.

Ok, so I am about to pull the trigger on upgrading my shitty thrown together parts on me MTB, from Altus/Acera combo I want to get something better.
It was supposed to be 2x Deore, a bit of an overkill for a shopcart bike which also goes on 30-50km+ rides but now I see Shimano already is phasing out these lower groups for Cues.

Anyone knows if I want to go with Cues?
As I have said, city rides with occasional offroad rides for which a "gr*vel" bike would be shopped to me extensively, I want it to hold together bad shifting without reindexing every 2 weeks, to trade off sturdiness for any type of weightweenism or shifting smoothness.

I also don't know yet if I hate 1x groupset yet but many bert opinions seem to suggest it sucks in versatility and durability and just today I had to shift to my smallest cog (3x front) to ride up the kurwasee embankment.
So I am heavily leaning to a 2x setup.

Perhaps Lars should fancy a quintessential burger game with that last name.

The Vuelta is in full swing with a day of GC action, and that means another SPECTACULAR edition of /WORLD TOUR WINE/ !! Tonight's edition is an EMERGENCY BROADCAST after my first choice (Produttori del Barbaresco 2018) turned out to be CORKED.

Today's stage meandered through one of the GREAT wine regions of the world - Piemonte, Italia. There are a number of wonderful, beautiful appellations here, including one we've already visited (Barolo). Today's wine comes from the other great Nebbiolo appellation -- Barbaresco. It is grown adjacent to today's start in Alba, just east.

Paitin Barbaresco Serraboella 2021 ($50)

Nebbiolo is one of my favorite grapes, with a perfumed nose and light body anchored by face-melting tannins and profound depth of flavor. Barbaresco tends to be a bit less tannic than Barolo (although a lot of modern Barolo is reasonably accessible in its youth, and there's a few that I drink at like 2-3 years of bottle age that drink great).

Tasted at 4 hours of decanting. Pours a super-pretty pale ruby. Nose is dominated by floral notes, just a whiff of tar and fruit (cranberry), cedar spice, but not deeply perfumed. Palate has steel, but just feels super tight. Tannins drying on the finish and the acidity feels a bit restrained.

Bottle just feels super tight despite a long decant, not much opening of the fruit. Maybe even lightly corked? I didn't want to believe it after a bad bottle earlier today, but my impression seems very discordant from other tasting notes. I do have a very sensitive nose for TCA so the more I sit with this, the more I believe that this is just a bit corked.

So I can think of maybe 5 wines in the last year I have drank that have been corked and 2 were Italian and 2 were Spanish. I drink probably 80% French, 10% German, 5% American, and 5% otherwise, so I just need to ask what the fuck the Meds are doing with their corks and cleaning.

Asked at one of the shops how much it would cost to get that Deore in. They are charging me basically double for all parts.
I will ask about it in one more shop but I guess this will be a first major bike maintenance I will be doing meself.

Yeah, grad/hrad/gród means a small medieval and premedieval settlement, small but already large enough to have some structure, defenses, a palisade.
There is a designation for a smaller settlement like this, grodzisko in Polish.

And mesto is a city. Guess "grad" means a settlement has been there long enough to keep the old name.

One time a Danish Bert posted about his littlebrother winning some junior race so I found the result and his name.
I didn't want to dox him in the thread and I forgot the name so now we'll never know it if Bert's brother becomes a pro.

Finns have that contrarian not give a shitism and thus will be slightly too careless.
I have that inkling for sniffing around just to see how much I can piece together from very sparse information.
Not that I am a stalker-psycho, not that haha!
No, I tend to forget details of what people put into the internet rather quickly, it is like releasing the fish back into the water.
But if I proceeded with this or that girl I would find out that one is a dark dick fan and the other is married to a 15 years older guy and has a tattoo under her tits.
Oh and that the other cute girl that was into me since childhood now does cringe tiktok vids baiting a potential husband, a big and quick find of a red flag.

 >>/38885/
Yeah it was just such a nuisance with longer hair and training a lot, I would have had to spend lots of time blowdrying it every day and it just wasn't worth it with the kid and everything. Now instead every week I just go to the local barber and tell him to take a month's growth off (2-2.5cm) and leave the top just slightly longer than the sides. Easy, looks decent, gets the job done.

At least that it what Johan and that chinless gay burger with a radio voice told me on the pod so I eventually flipped Jappe out and brought Mads in again.

 >>/38951/
Ah I see, then I guess the Decathlon is your best bet – possibly Giant Defy as well? I like to pick my own components so that's why the Light Carbon one is good, the frame is cheap so you can buy better components where you want to splurge for the same money (like better wheels or 165mm Red cranks or whatever cockpit you want).

 >>/38973/
I see. The LCR018 I posted is 850USD incl shipping and integrated stem/handlebar. Then add 1000 usd for a used di2 group / rival AXS and another 1000 usd for a fantastic set of Nextie wheels (sub-1300g 50mm, wide internal width, hooked) and a couple hundred for a good saddle, handlebar tape, building etc. I still think going the Chinesium way is your best bet.

 >>/38974/
Oh and now that I think about it I think you can get a used Ultegra di2 for the 1000usd, 105 di2 should be significantly less. And the Nexties don't cost 1000 dollars either, more like 800 probably, though not sure what the situation is atm with the tariffs

 >>/38950/
honestly even if he doesn't improve at all he will be okay if his job is just to lead out brennan/zingle on versatile sprints. no one on visma can do over 1000 watts who isn't dropped on 2k 3% other than those two (and wout who is riding for his own result). When you do repeats like this, which repeats would you find the most difficult, mentally?
For me, it's probably 3rd, since then my terrible choices start to dawn on me and then perhaps the 7th since it's hurting and the end is not near

 >>/39038/
Birdies sing so much I thought I went into some paradise location in HoMM3 map, slow day for everyone.
 >>/39039/
Probably similar, 3-4 in understanding this is harder than you thought you're not even half-way through, 7-8 realizing you're tot and there are still multiple reps to do.

Hmm I am starting to think the shop guy is not ripping me off that much, I've just had a fixed priced for the whole Deore groupset which is much more expensive and barely available now.
Would like to avoid a walk of shame to the shop which may happen anyways, with a bike half done/undone with wires sticking out and screws barely holding on.

 >>/39042/
Could also find a dude who does it as a 2nd job from his garage. Someone in my street does this in the evenings and he earns good money.
I'd also trust him more that a bikeshop peddling shit since you buy the components yourself

 >>/39039/
I never find controlled intervals challenging, it gets mentally hard when you're competing against someone or something and you're over the limit and falling behind or chasing and you know you still have a chunk of effort ahead of you.
Intervals, you hit your numbers and if your legs and/or cardio are dead and you're basically at failure you hit the best numbers you can for the remaining rep(s) and that's that

 >>/39043/
You made me think about this guy in a tiny shop who fixes a rubbing chain and a clanking bb in cheap normal people bikes. He has working hours, a legal business and all but all he does is those repairs for people's moms and influx women on their dutch bikes.
I don't know if coming over and handing him over the parts would be the move but I may ask.

 >>/39044/
Like a PUSSY. No, keeping stuff for later is very important, delayed gratification and all that, the best parts are kept for last.
I remember when I was a kid and had a family, everyone had a kick out of me because while eating the dinner I would generally mix it up what I am eating, potatoes, salad, the meat - like a normal person, a peice of that, then a piece of that, then that.
But the salad was always gone first, I used to save a bit of potatoes in the middle but there was always the biggest piece of meat left as the very last part of the dinner, the great finale.

so after seeing the starving children in Africa Pauline decided to partake in the WC in Renewi. she already won the rainbow stripes back in 2014 when that girl cycling thing was still really amateurish. looking at the 2014 results a surprising big amount of girls are still active to this day.

There's a very nice straight flat road 15km from where I live and it's nice to do the vo2max efforts there. Can do anything from 3min to 10min there, and usually during an interval I get passed by at most one car. If you do the efforts to a headwind you won't go much over 40km/h so not too high speeds either.
I've slept like shit for the past few nights and felt like shit today, could only do 470W for the first two 3min intervals and then the next two 4min efforts were at just over 435W, about 20W less than usual. And even if it was flat I think I prefer the trainer for these, just feels easier to stay within the intended power. The cooling effect was nice though, average temp was something like 12 degrees and felt really pleasant compared to the Finnish boiler room experience.

so we're still waiting for the BIG shopping spree of Decathlon for next season. no BIG announcements have been made so far, while half the guys they basically fired found a new job.

EXTREMELY comfy sounding NAT race Gran Premio Chianti Colline d'Elsa was held yesterday with the like of INNOCENTI, PIZZI and BERTOLLI.

> The Israelis' gap to the team of João Almeida and Juan Ayuso has also been reduced to 39 seconds, meaning they now finish in the same time as Intermarché-Wanty and EF Education-EasyPost. This means they gain five places in the overall standings. The organizers have not yet released any details. Therefore, they are waiting for the daily press release, which organizer Unipublic usually issues later in the evening. WielerFlits has requested confirmation from Israel-Premier Tech, but has not yet received a response.

first time they've done something like this?

Reposting here as well.
Hello berts, my rim brake Look Huez has BB problems again. The BB area is just too oval for the cups to stay in place I guess and it's getting worse. I could try the carbon repair route I guess, but it's a gamble and costs pretty much. I think I will just sell the parts instead and move on. Does anybody here want to buy a good working set of Campag Super Record 12s? Also some good carbon wheels and a set of Cane Creek EE brakes for weight weenie goodness will be for sale. I think I will list them on buycycle since I doubt there's a market for them here in Finland.

A few months ago I would've bought the group but I've tried campagnolo since and I can't deal with the thumb shifter, its placement is too far off for how I want to grip the hoods. Which is a shame because everything else about the shifter design is really nice and I think mechanical shifting is based

Yeah the shifting is fine and the general design of the hoods and brake lever is great. To fix my issues with the thumb I would place it 5-10mm further forward and 5-10mm further down. The way it is now its like they intend you to grab the shifter at its base close to the handlebar but at the same time the very front end of the shifter is shaped perfectly for hands to rest so which one is it. Maybe it all made sense in the past with different handlebar shapes and bike geometry and they just kept it like that.
The 13s group also has the thumb way back and its narrow now, I don't get it

 >>/39212/
I am planning on building up a steel bike but I've settled on the disc brake Fairlight Strael, as I want some more tyre clearance and possibility for mudguards. I had thought about the travel aspect before but I don't think I'll be traveling soon with the kid.
 >>/39213/
Now that you show those photos the design is pretty odd. Maybe the idea is that people are on the drops and it's accessible from there? then again I would think it'd be lower than where it is now. But yeah a quite odd design, perhaps I should ask some boomer campag fan what he thinks the rationale behind it is

Visma using all their energy in the first half of the Tour when mere seconds were on the line and not having anyone in the last week when there were minutes at stake is still baffling

they really were banking on Jonas being strong enough to go solo with Tadej every day?

 >>/39240/
It was a very desperate strategy, but with how strong Pogacar has been this and last year it would have been very arrogant to not be desperate.
It obviously didn't work but I don't get why their tactic got so much hate. They would have lost either way but I see why they would want to give it a try.

> I find it deeply saddening to see what's happening to Ayuso right now. An absolute top talent being mentally destroyed by Tadej Soprano and his capos. Leaving is, of course, the only option, but you can see from Matteo Jorgenson that even as a rider for another team, you don't really get a chance to succeed against the peloton's new Lance Armstrong. Oh well, let's all just ignore it. After all, Tadej is always smiling and he's riding Paris-Roubaix, which is so great.

Had a berger like that today, made by meself, almost exactly the same order of green (it was lettuce not roszponka), pickles, tomat, burger with a processed cheese slice on top.
For me it was also a fried but runny egg and a bunch of pickled jalapeno before the top of the bun came.
Demolished it so much I got my bed shit dirty, luckily I delayed laundering it for a few more days until today's calamity.
Yes, I often eat in bed, like a savage.
