Ok, found a decent replacement, matte black spec with black decals, alu not carbon, very good shape, already on Deore.
My lucky ass didn't pull the trigger on any groupset or fork replacement yet, that would be unfortunate with that frame going kaput.

RVV was great and on par with MSR. Other than I really think this and the last season were overall quite boring.
UAE got even stronger this year and they go to every race on the calendar to make sure nothing fun ever happens.

reckon he can squeeze out 5200 points and then he'll just stop racing much like grug. He still has MSR, PR and a Vuelta victory to grab so he won't taper off and coast just yet. Next season he'll be as strong or stronger

Well, well, the the season is now almost finished and we have one more entry into /WORLD TOUR WINE/ before the last WT race in Guangxi starts!

Despite frequent reassurances from the resident schizos that bad Italian wine actually exists and is headache inducing, I was not able to find any, so we are having some cooking wine to try my best.

5 Litres Italian Red Cooking Wine ($5)
Ingredients: De-alcoholised wine from concentrate, Red Wine (40%), Salt, Preservative (Potassium MetabiSULPHITE)

While I've had Cooking White Wines a few times, because I ran out of wine bottles, I have never had the red wine variant. Indeed, there is a charming Italian flag on the card board which sports a nice dark red color.

This pours a strong dark red color. The nose is really strong -- reminding me of vinegar. The palate is actually nice, with nicely balanced tomato character and a pleasing bitterness. I was stunned to see that this is only 4.8%, as you would expect a much higher alcohol Vol., which is totally prominent on the palate.

Not bad at all. If I wanted to get shitfaced on wine that wasn't too expensive, this would be a good choice.

Ah yeah I see what you mean.
Well it's still an ongoing process – I have two revisions on my desk atm, haven't had the time to do them properly because I've been busy making two new courses. The first one just finished and it went fairly well, now I need to make the material ready for the second one and then finish those revisions. Not too much under pressure since I have the permanent teaching position regardless but it would be nice to get the PhD out of the system.

But SEIXAS is not number 1, it's within philipsen

Here I would maybe get a hundred euros more per month, so not a big deal.
I am doing a 20min test next weekend, so expect big 400+ watts there. Most of these data points are pretty old, reckon I could get the 2-60min ones much higher if I tried a maximum.

Well the cycling season is winding down, but that means it's time for Il Lombardia and another sensational and HIGHLY anticipated /WORLD TOUR WINE/ !!

Today's result was predictable, but it wasn't quite a procession, with an outstanding and soulful long-range attack from Quinn SIMMONS as well as strong performance from up-and-coming Siexas Seixas. The course began in Como and wound its way through the mountains of Lombardy on its way to Bergamo. Tucked away in the north of Lombardia, in a valley just below the Swiss border, is the Valtellina appellation. The steep Alpine walls feature stacked terraces of Nebbiolo grapes, essentially the only grape grown here. This is the third Nebbiolo of /wtw/, previously featuring Barolo in the Giro and Barbaresco in the Grand Depart of the Vuelta. Today's producer is Arpepe (named for its founder Arturo Pelizzatti Perego), one of the finest producers in the region.

Arpepe Grumello Rocca de Piro 2017 ($60)

Initially planned to decant this but it was so open from the initial pour that I decided against it. It is a beautiful transparent brick-red, light body. The nose is lovely, leading with asphalt and then a bloom of roses and red fruit. The palate is really, really fine, with fine velvet tannins that are perfectly integrated with light, pure red fruit and a sort of tea-like minerality. This is a fine wine that is drinking at its peak right now.

It's certainly interesting to compare this to Barolo (which is something I have more experience with, and actually have a bottle open right now to compare). It is light and leaner, without the profundity, but with that comes a lithe transparency that I just adore. A total surprise and a total stunner.

You could do a slight negative split like target 390-395 for the first half and then ramp it up to targeting 405+ in the second half, that's how I do all 15+ minutes max efforts and it works very well for me although keep in mind the lower you go the more you need to ramp.
There's something about being in control and knowing you have more in the tank, if you make it through the first half feeling alright a lot of the doubt is gone and if you make it through the first half feeling bad and on the limit you know you never had more in the tank in the first place and the goal was unattainable.
But this shouldn't be a question of whether you can do it or not because you know you can, you know your numbers so you simply do it.

> Tadej Pogacar (27) made a remarkable confession to the Slovenian news site Siol.net on Sunday. His resigned attitude during the third week of the Tour was due to a knee injury that flared up. His body went into shock and he retained fluid. Pogacar feared after the Ventoux stage that he would lose the overall victory, but despite the problems, he held on and won by 4 minutes and 24 seconds over Jonas Vingegaard.

So you basically did 2x25min at threshold? Very good workout, that's tough especially if you haven't trained that much in recent times. I'd do some intensity in the warm up though, like 3min at 300W+ before a 10min easy spin. Makes the intense work later on much easier.
For me it was 1h30min of heat training to start the day properly. Also starting to tinker with my fit on the bike again, switching to a 2cm longer stem and moving the saddle 2cm forward felt pretty nice today.

The Tour of Guangxi marks the LAST UCI World Tour event of the season, and that means the last run of /WORLD TOUR WINE/ !! This has perhaps been the most HOTLY anticipated series of wines of the year, with Berts clamoring for inside knowledge for MONTHS.

China is, historically, NOT a wine-drinking country. They prefer to guzzle cheap grain analog beers and insanely overpriced baijiu. However, there are small pockets of wine springing up throughout the country over the last couple decades. The country used to have a bit of a crush on Bordeaux, considering it a prestigious business gift, but since the government ban on wine as a business gift, the market has apparently crashed in China. Still, some wine is made. One of the "premier" regions is Ningxia which borders the Helan Mountains in Inner Mongolia, the opposite side of the country from Guangxi.

Xiaopu "Gathering MV6" ($30)

Well, I know nothing about this wine or region. It is an insane blend of Syrah, Pinor Noir, Chardonnay, "Italian Riesling" (sic), Black Muscat, Marselan, and Dunkelfelder from various vintages (hence the MV designation. The notes from the winemaker include:
> The word "gathering" on the wine label comes from Su Shi's "People Come to the Book Post:
> "I deeply follow the common sense of life and death, gathering and dispersing,
> It is useless to realize sorrow."

So I'm not sure what that's supposed to be mean. It pours a quite opaque jammy red-purple, slightly cloudy. The nose has some light Syrah wild game and olive, but has a lot of Riesling and Muscat funk. It reminds me of low-quality Finger Lakes Riesling. The palate...woof. Sour acidity, a bit of red fruit. It's just not pleasant, very disjointed, all angles and elbows.

This is certainly done in a natural style and seems to be a sort of bistro-style glou glou. The very first Chinese wine the /wtw/ offices have sampled leaves something to be desired. However, it is actually better than some of the Australian horrors we opened the year with.

they are new to the cycling thing outside from some kermis races and Maastricht is far away from Holland, so Amstel and Volta NXT don't count. a bit surprising that they are bringing ZLM tour back next year, but will it replace the the tour of Holland?

UAE 5 races short of getting to 100. I don't see them winning 3 stages in Chayna, nor Vine beating Tardling at chrono. only the other Veneto being a boring affair, if they start with del stier again or bored pogi making a surprise appearance.

And that 1x little sprocket is really smol.
On the hardest speed I will be Z2ing in 10kg time. But that's a minor and easy upgrade to make.
In general the bike is in good shape, wheels needs some righting, some tiny paint scrapes needs to be q-tipped with paint from a black matte paint spray, but for the price point of below 600 eurobucks this is more than fine.

I've checked their page but the long stem seems to be a custom job and all of their stuff is already really expensive off the shelf. I don't like the shape of their handlebar but it has a long reach and that would be great to have, probably much better than a longer stem with normal bars. Never seen that before so that's probably the only one with that attribute, I can't even paypig anything because nobody makes what I desire.
What happened to capitalism?

Here's the deal, veloman forgot adding Race day 43 to pedaler page, thus I can't scrape results the normal way.
Hope he amends this, if not I will find anudda way, worst case scenario just add them manually but no GC update for now.

Yeah sure but at what price, I don't even see a stem in their shop. I currently have 79mm reach bars so the reach of these bars is great but I don't like the upward tilt at the hoods and the shallow 105mm drop at all and I don't want bars that narrow either. This clocks in at 430€ for a piece of plastic tsk
They do make some classy looking titanium framesets.
 >>/50721/

 >>/50702/
If I were looking for an extra long stem I'd buy this: https://www.velobike.co.nz/products/elite-longboi-stem Options go up to 200mm, with various different angles.
This is also potentially relevant for me as I am tweaking by raper fit and I just switched to a 150mm stem as I put my position much more foreward.

New details into the Sram-UCI legal battle. I found this bit quite funny:
> The hearing was formally conducted in French, at the UCI’s own request, though in an ironic twist, it later tried to submit an English-language video as evidence, forcing the college to remind everyone of the official procedural language and leaving the UCI dedicating much of its 30-minute submission slot to translating its own video.
This is a very good article on the topic. Fuck UCI, I hope some of the other ridiculous rules are changed in the future because of this like the stupid TT position rules that make TT'ing as a taller person so difficult.
https://escapecollective.com/why-the-bcas-sram-ruling-could-redefine-uci-governance/

 >>/50740/
How exactly is not having ridiculous gearing standards "marketing greed"? The gearing thing would have only hurt Sram riders for no reason at all, it would not have made racing any safer. Sram having innovated the 10T cog is a good thing, more gearing range for those who want it.

We shall see in 26.
I will deliberately not do Tour Down Under because I will be probably itching to run the scripts after 3 months of break and don't want to fall into the autistic trap of "I already did one, I HAVE to do all the rest".
But Ompoop and occasional one day race script running may occur.
I will be updating GC though

 >>/50753/
Just in recent years equipment innovation has brought wider tyres to the market for the everyman which is a good thing, more comfortable and faster. Crazy UCI regulations not based on anything have just made the sport much harder for any outliers: TT bike regulations (sticks aren't allowed to be as long as they should, saddle must be 5cm behind the BB for no reason) have made TT bikes much less comfortable than tri bikes, especially for taller riders; handlebar regulations exclude smaller women for no real reason and make racing far worse for them; and so on.
I am all for limiting equipment innovation for safety reasons if it's reasonable. Like demanding slower, more punctureproof tyres for every racer? No problem imo, makes for safer and slower racing. Or limiting clothing aero in some way (just limiting aero socks / overshoes would make riders lose 10W) for the same reason.

I agree with all that, just fyi as far as I know all the arbitrary UCI ruling around TT and track bikes comes from the graham obree era where that man made his own bike to cook up super aero positions with which he dominated individual pursuit, the UCI first directly banned pic rel. and then the superman position which he came up next and then they imposed a bunch of these rules like the saddle behind BB and the maximum extension length thing to prevent the development of new positions as much as possible. There's a documentary on youtube about him, it's a good watch.

IMO an easy fix for many UCI regulations like handlebar width and extension length would be making them all in relation to the rider such as handlebar width in relation to the riders shoulder width and so on, these blanket statement rules fuck over too many people as you said.
