Dude, that's not how serial killers work. If we're talking about a classic case of a narcissistic sexual deviant, then there are usually years of sexual fantasies and then some trigger event, a convenient opportunity to make them a reality. And only after they seize this opportunity and experience that high of sexual gratification, then there is no going back for them. If there is no opportunity - there is no murder, and such a person may as well be your sexually repressed grandpa next door quietly living out the rest of his days. Serial killers don't kill because of some abstract notion of "the craft", they kill because of personal sexual reasons.
