But there can only be a permanent refugee solution when the government recovers control of the whole country, and Erdogan delayed that from happening last year when he interrupted the successful offensive in Idlib.

I assume phase 1 would be crushing Ukrainian military if we go by Colonel General Sergei Rudskoy's speech? By that they want to liberate the (people's) republics, without the interference of the Ukrainian military. For this they have to neutralize it, because otherwise those could endlessly butt into the matter. So they opted with all out war on the whole Ukraine, and not on a limited operational area.
Now - if it is true what's in that speech - they crippled the Ukrainian army, and they are busy with holding Kiev, Chernigov, Sumi, Kharkov, Mikolaev and Krivoy Rog. In the South East corner god knows what the situation is.
Or maybe phase 1 is connecting Crimea with the republics? Because that crushing doesn't sound complete in reality.

 >>/47124/
> but I doubt they will dislodge the positions north of Kiev.

Because the Russians are already leaving them on their own... I was not wholly wrong I guess. I thought they would try to stay there to keep pressure on the capital but then having them there is costly as it is right near the capital of Ukrainian, it's not strictly necessary for taking Donbas either.

 >>/47125/
Maybe, it could also be surrounding certain cities, taking Mariupol(or near enough of it), connecting Crimea to the Donbass, taking Kherson and so establishing a foothold on the west side of the Dniper etc. Hitting Ukrainian supply depots and such would probably be a part as well.

 >>/47128/
> there is costly as it is right near the capital of Ukrainian, it's not strictly necessary for taking Donbas either.
They are tying down great amount of forces.

 >>/47129/
Perhaps. I'm really curious about phase 2. Right now in the north it's all withdrawing or regrouping (depending who says it).

 >>/47130/
That doesn't look good for Russia, getting struck at home.
If Ukrainians managed then:
- this makes Russia look weak;
- the demilitarization doesn't go well.
If Russians did this to blame Ukrainians:
- can be used as an excuse to continue the war;
- I don't think they really need any excuse to continue at this point;
- an Ukrainian strike makes them looks weak;
- it creates the appearance that the demilitarization effort doesn't go well.

Yaghan is one of the tiniest languages as far as the amount of speakers goes, and its sole speaker died just now, essentially the language died with her. She said previously there are others who know it some but none use it as well as she. We can just accept her word that she was fully master of it. When does a language die? While some people understood her, wouldn't a language alive when an intelligible conversation can be done with it, where both sides are active speaker, and one of them isn't just a mere listener?
Yaghans are/were natives in the regions of the southernmost Chile and Argentina. They were hunger-gatherers in the past, now they do what South Americans do I guess.

It's not any of those days at all! Stop trying to steal Valentines day from the Valentine.

The valentine does not get anywhere near enough attention I think, everybody forgets it existed even though they made 8,200 of them. That's only 300 less than the number of Panzer IVs that were made. It's such an important tank yet nobody ever mentions it.

I guess it depends on what you call "cheesecake", specific modern US cheesecake ("New York" or whatever it is called) or just literally cheese cake.

That wiki article about cheesecakes uses that term pretty liberally and puts every cheese/quark cakes into same category, although they are very different.

Paçoca is easy to consume in large numbers but white cheese + goiabada is more serious, it works as both a dessert and a snack. I've read it's a sort of marmalade but with guava, but I've never had any marmalade. In any case, both ingredients are good on their own but the white cheese's neutral taste combines perfectly with the very sweet guava marmalade.

I've just remembered a good salty snack: cashew nuts. I can easily consume a massive quantity.

It seems our cottage-cheese cheesecake counts as cheesecake too.

Can that be used as spread on bread?

That is really good I do agree. Also the unsalted variety goes well into muh oats. A bit expensive here.

Below you will find the extraction from the book of David Deutsch, "The fabric of Reality", which feels very appealing to my taste. What do you think about our ability to comprehend Reality in general, or about the book, if you've read it?

Now I return to the question I posed in the previous chapter, namely whether, if we had only a virtual-reality rendering based on the wrong laws of physics to learn from, we should expect to learn the wrong laws. The first thing to stress is that we *do* have only virtual reality based on the wrong laws to learn from! As I have said, all our external experiences are of virtual reality, generated by our own brains. And since our concepts and theories (whether inborn or learned) are never perfect, all our renderings are indeed inaccurate. That is to say, they give us the experience of an environment that is significantly different from the environment that we are really in. Mirages and other optical illusions are examples of this. Another is that we experience the Earth to be at rest beneath our feet, despite its rapid and complex motion in reality. Another is that we experience a single universe, and a single instance of our own conscious selves at a time, while in reality there are many. But these inaccurate and misleading experiences provide no argument against scientific reasoning. On the contrary, such deficiencies are its very starting-point.

> A parent ofc should love their kids unconditionally

depends tbh. I've seen some very nasty people and the way they treat their kids. That's not always tru though

 >>/45996/
I do agree in general.
> prevent them from engaging in self-destructive behavior.
But do we know better then them? Do we really know what they need? I have a pal who had no aim in life and engaged in self-destructive behaviour until the very edge of breaking, which in the end motivated him to change things.
But in general I agree with you even with this because many people can do that and go over the edge, never getting off from the downward slope.

Yes, I mentioned in spoiler similar scenario.

This.

And even term "unconditional" doesn't mean that there will be all-forgiveness.

 >>/46021/
> But do we know better then them? Do we really know what they need?

We don't, but as imperfect and irrational human beings, we think that we do.

Although sometimes we really know better, but society likes to highlight wrong cases more.

I don't think there is such absolutely "unconditional love". There is real love, either passional or filial, which is, ultimately, a willingness to sacrifice one's own life to keep and protect the loved one, and there are lower degrees of affection. But even love, when considered as a human emotion rather than an abstract, poetic, atemporal concept or inspiration, turns out to be conditional, if on nothing else, at least on Entropy, God of Destruction.
 >>/46021/
> But do we know better then them? Do we really know what they need?

Basically, "yes". If passional love, then because this is a burning and possessive love then we will believe that we do know better. If parental love, then in most cases we certainly do know better

Btw, I really hate the Anglo banalization and bastardization of the word and concept "love". In English somebody might say he "loves" ice cream, for example...

Hey
I brew beer at home and I thought I could make a thread for it here as well

today (& yesterday, chestnuts were roasted last evening already) me & dad were making chestnut beer
we make beer about ~23L at a time, you can get pretty damn good beer for cheap this way & you're free to go wild with the recipe
this beer includes both chestnuts and chestnut honey (yes I am breaking several german laws here), should be ideal for winter months

ingredients:
1250g roasted chestnuts (used about 2.5kg before roasting and peeling to get)
1900g Munich malt
300g Mroost black malt
1000g malt extract
500g chestnut honey
40g Styrian Golding dried hops
1 baggy (10g) of dried ale yeast (Mangrove Jack's M36 "Liberty Bell")

Steps:
- roasted chestnuts in oven, 45min 200°C
- chestnuts were coarsely ground and added to malt (also coarsely ground) for mashing, 1h at temperature ramp 55-65°C (nothing fancy I just put it on the stove and kept track of temperature so that it was slowly rising, mixing every 5mins or so)
- resulting mash was then extracted 3x at ~65-70°C so that I obtained 3 pots of wort of decreasing sugar content
- 1st and 2nd wort were just boiled and put into cooling
- 3rd wort was added malt extract (extra fermentable sugar) and chestnut honey (also extra sugar but also bitterness) and brought to boil
- when boiling heat was turned off and hops were added, for 15mins (if I were bittering with hops, I'd need to add some hops at the start already, but chestnut honey takes care of this in this case)
- when cooled down to lukewarm temperature, wort was put into fermentor (about 16L altogether) and water added up to 23L mark
- initial temperature was 24°C, initial density 1043g/L (which means about 11.5° Stammwürze – with malt only I'd expect to get to about 4.8-5% final alcohol with this)
- yeast added & sealed under airlock for fermentation (room temperature for ale), expecting to bottle next Sunday

So I didnt know where to post this excellent video about aluminium so I thought I just make a thread. About health.

Its a very easy video to watch/listen to because he says pictures and its being translated to french so it goes slower. He has researched about aluminium in 30 years so he is not a noob.
