Checked out Against the Storm - very dignified, drags a lot of mechanics, which you can immerse yourself in gradually, and not as in paradoxes - fuck them. Random often sedates, but if you do not strangle yourself with excessive complexity, then the chaos introduced by the random is quite manageable and delivers.
But what pissed me off almost to the drop - that the key quest mechanics are opened not by script, but by hands on the global tree of development, which is never obvious, there are no clues to this. I cursed everything when, on the second run, the cowboy did bring it to the key point and I was offered a quest finale:
1. Bring the happiness of all populations to 45, 40 and 35, respectively. Well, there are no problems with beavers, but to make people and harpies enjoy themselves can only be FULL satisfaction of all dreams and desires, and randomly and randomly, so as not to give me ALL the necessary resources and technologies for this. Only in the last year, I got pies in the quest award, which made it possible to barely bring happiness to the required level ... and it turned out that it should be held for 5 minutes! And before the storm season there were 4 minutes left with the 5th hostility of the forest. Why 5th? Because
2. ... the second way to win: by timer solve quests of two forbidden zones. There are only 4 pieces on the cartouche and you need to cut from one end of the map to the other. On a map where every tree cut down is hostility. I do not remember whether I had time to solve the quest or not - time, in fact, was given a lot, but in addition to this I had to find a pack of ancient tablets, which, having cut out half the map, I did not find any. Random.
3. But the developers could not sum up the entire run for a few game sessions on a simple rand, right? Of course, there is a guaranteed way to win: to use rainwater in your rain technology - the special mechanics of this game, in fact, the key in it, as I understand, allows you to accelerate production, but at the cost of pollution, which must be dealt with - in general, such as myself and until now I have been comfortable without it. Actually. But if necessary, then OK, the economy allows any investments, pipes in the warehouse literally hundreds, let's run the storm pipelines and install rain engines ... how? Fuck knows, every tab, every millimeter menu was explored like a pixel game in the '90s. Fuck.
I cursed everything and dutifully gave the time pedal, waiting for my demise and went to buy a couple of upgrades before getting rid of this broken game. On the way, he climbed into his "home", where a shitty cuzda in the form of a mentor in a wretched painted room, where you can not even arrange furniture at your discretion, gives his useless advice on the game. So I asked, what about storm technology? Answer: "Oh, yes, this is a great magic, which is given only to the most experienced Viceroys!" Experienced? Well, I've got a decimal point of experience going into the pumping tree and -- yes, I've got just enough to reach for one, unremarkable upgrade in the middle of the tree that unlocks these stormy technologies. After I needed them for the final mission quest. Fuck, thank you, fuck you!
So the first two races, I didn't have a chance to either suck on the rando. Nothing's impossible, in principle, if you KNOW THIS Bitch. Well, in principle, that's the way it is in any game. But in a good game after the butterfly, you sit down and keep playing. I'll continue.
