James Eastland
James Oliver Eastland (November 28, 1904 – February 19, 1986) was an American politician from the state of Mississippi who served in the United States Senate as a Senator in 1941; and again from 1943 until his resignation on December 27, 1978. He has been called the "Voice of the White South" and the "Godfather of Mississippi Politics."[1] A Democrat, Eastland was known as the symbol of Southern resistance to racial integration during the civil rights era, often speaking of blacks as "an inferior race."[2]

The son of a prominent attorney, politician and cotton planter, Eastland attended the local schools of Scott County, Mississippi, and took courses at several universities, including the University of Mississippi, Vanderbilt University and the University of Alabama. He completed his legal education by studying in his father's office, and attained admission to the bar in 1927. Eastland practiced law in Sunflower County and took over management of his family's cotton plantation. He became active in politics as a Democrat, and served in the Mississippi House of Representatives from 1928 to 1932.

In 1941, Senator Pat Harrison died in office, and the governor appointed Eastland to fill the vacancy on the condition that he not run later in the year in the special election to complete the term. Eastland kept his word, and served from June to September. The special election was won by Congressman Wall Doxey. In 1942, Eastland defeated Doxey in the primary for the Democratic nomination in the election for a full term. The Democratic party was then Mississippi's dominant party, making Eastland's primary victory tantamount to election, and he returned to the Senate in January 1943. He was reelected five times, and served until resigning in December 1978, days before the end of his final term. Eastland advanced to the chairmanship of the Senate Judiciary Committee and President pro tempore of the Senate.

Eastland died in 1986 and was buried at Forest Cemetery in Forest, Mississippi.

The campaign met that goal but still lags behind top-tier candidates. He is not the only candidate to shake up his campaign staff in recent weeks. Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) was preparing to lay off dozens of staffers at her Baltimore headquarters and redeploy others to Iowa. In addition to Iowa and Nevada, Castro also reportedly plans to make a big push in his home state of Texas.

An envelope with white powder caused an evacuation at former Rep. Katie Hill’s (D) California office Monday. Hazardous materials crews and the Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to the office formerly belonging to Hill in Palmdale shortly after noon, ABC’s local affiliate KABC reported. Several people reported exposure to the white powder. Those exposed will be decontaminated and brought to a medical facility, the television station reported. The powder was tested and determined to be non-hazardous, Fox 11 reported. The investigation is ongoing, and there have been no arrests. This is very different from QR, where the notables thread was started as an intentional 'fuck you' to bakers by @fj and co--and so was kind of weird and disorganized. (Just tried to get into it, but QR is feeling pissy at the moment, so I'll have to come back later.)

This is a comp'd thread imo. could have been decent but that was never the intent. Intent was to (a) destroy the bakers and (b) create chaos on the board (in the name of some kind of more democratic ways of doing notes). That's my opinion but i doubt i'm alone there.  Things to notice (see cap):

1. lot of green text - that means the threads can no longer be accessed, links are dead. 8bit used to have 25 rows of threads; @fj cut it down to 15, so links died pdq (fu, anons).

2. Notes mostly done by "BAKER ASSISTS" ( = anybody by bakers)
That term was hated by 8bit (so everyone stopped using it when 8bit weighed in). He affirmed both primacy of bakers in the kitchen, an idea with both pros and cons. But FJ hated bakers, so reversed the trend. At first, no bakers would do these notes; later, after he'd kicked all the bakers off the board, his own bakers wouldn't do them (too lazy imo). Texas Proposition 4, Prohibit State Income Tax on Individuals Amendment (2019)


The Texas State Constitution requires the state legislature to put legislation enacting an income tax before voters as a statewide referendum, which voters could approve or reject. Placing a referendum before voters requires a simple majority vote (50%+1) in each legislative chamber.[1]

Proposition 4 would replace the referendum requirement with a ban on enacting an income tax on individuals. Since Proposition 4's ban on an income tax would be a provision of the Texas Constitution, a two-thirds vote in each legislative chamber and a statewide referendum would be needed to repeal or amend the ban.

Therefore, one of the practical effects of Proposition 4 would be to increase the legislative vote requirement to authorize an income tax.[2]

Proposition 4 would repeal the existing requirement that an income tax, should one be enacted, be used to reduce school ad valorem (property) taxes and increase education funding.[2]

The ballot measure would also replace the phrase "tax on the net incomes of natural persons" with the phrase "tax on the net incomes of individuals."[2] There is disagreement between some supporters and opponents of the measure regarding the relevance and meaning of the change from natural persons to individuals.[3] On May 15, 2019, the Legislative Budget Board wrote that because Proposition 4 did not define individuals, the language could be interpreted to include businesses that are subject to the state's franchise tax.[4] On May 27, 2019, the legislature passed a bill, which the governor signed, that defined individuals as a natural person and excluded partnerships, corporations, banks, and other legal entities

The veteran exec was named the new head of the news organization on Thursday morning. As expected, James Goldston has been named president of ABC News, succeeding Ben Sherwood, who will move to the top job at Disney-ABC in Burbank early next year. Goldston's promotion is effective immediately. Technically, Sherwood will assume Anne Sweeney's job next February, but he will be spending the bulk of his time in Burbank easing into his new job and, at the moment, immersed in pilot screenings. Goldston arrived at ABC News in 2004 after several years at the BBC in his native England. (With his promotion, two BBC alums -- Goldston and ABC Entertainment president Paul Lee -- are running ABC divisions. And two Brits -- Goldston and NBC News president Deborah Turness -- are leading American news divisions.)

Goldston is responsible for the re-making of Nightline into a multi-anchor, multi-topic program in the wake of Ted Koppel's retirement. Nightline, in its 11:35 p.m. slot, would become the top-rated broadcast program in its time slot, drawing more viewers than both NBC's Tonight Show with Jay Leno and CBS' Late Show with David Letterman. He was named senior executive producer of Good Morning America in 2011 and was largely responsible for that show's transformation to a multi-anchor ensemble, a change that helped the morning program topple the Today show's unprecedented 16-year winning streak and eventually funnel more than $100 million in ad revenue to ABC. Since 2012, Goldston has been senior vice president at ABC News, with oversight over all of the news division's programming.

In a note to ABC staff, Sherwood characterized Goldston as “an award-winning journalist, masterful programmer and innovative businessman [who] has helped steer ABC News in moments of triumph and adversity." Added Goldston: “Coming to ABC News has been the most exciting and rewarding time in my life. ABC News tapped James Goldston to be its next president on Thursday, capping an ascent that began 10 years ago when the US network hired him away from ITV in London. Goldston moves up from his current role as a roving senior vice president in charge of news content. His appointment, which was widely expected, was praised by his predecessor, Ben Sherwood, who was promoted in March to a broader role inside parent company Disney. “The results speak for themselves,” Sherwood said in a statement. “Good Morning America is enjoying its best performance in decades; World News just saw its best quarter in three years; Nightline has delivered the best numbers in 11 years in the time period; 20/20 is at a four year high; and This Week just posted its best quarter and longest winning streak over NBC in 16 years.”

Goldston’s appointment means two of the three World War II-era American television news networks now will be run by Britons. Former ITV executive Deborah Turness took over as president of rival NBC News in August 2013. The longest-serving network news chief is now David Rhodes, who has been president of CBS News only since 2011. At ABC News, Goldston has worked something of a Midas touch, taking each show he has run to a top slot in the ratings. At the late-night news show Nightline, Goldston rallied a team of ambitious young producers and led a transformation from one anchor – Ted Koppel – to three. The new show caught on, growing a whopping 17% in total viewers in 2008 and passing The Tonight Show a year later to become the top-ranked in its time slot.

When Goldston was placed in charge of Good Morning America in 2011, the morning show had not beaten archrival Today in more than 16 years, in a defining competition for network news divisions because of the ad dollars at stake. Just more than a year later, Good Morning America started beating Today. Earlier this month, GMA won its sixth quarter in a row in both total viewers and the younger viewers advertiser covet. Goldston arrived at ABC News from ITV’s Tonight with Trevor McDonald, attached to correspondent Martin Bashir, whose series of interviews with the pop star Michael Jackson was edited by Goldston into a controversial, immensely popular documentary-length film broadcast in 2003. Bashir, who was a Nightline anchor until 2010, resigned in December from his job as an MSNBC host amid an outcry over criticism he had leveled at Sarah Palin.

Goldston’s installment in the top spot at ABC News follows a broader management shakeup at Disney. In March the company announced the surprise departure of Anne Sweeney, an 18-year company veteran who oversaw news and entertainment divisions responsible for almost $12bn in revenue. Sherwood was tapped as Sweeney’s replacement.

Looks like there's a bunch of resistance arising against POTUS due to the ban on vaping flavors.  It's hit lots of small businesses and their families.  That's a significant voting block.

Personally, I'm against tobacco and even vaping because both pollute the air for the users and bystanders.    I think the feds will need to heavily publicize the chemical burns to vapers' lungs (and any other related harms) even more than they have because the vapers are acting like little kids who had their candy taken away.

Studio 54 is a former nightclub and currently a Broadway theatre, located at 254 West 54th Street, between Eighth Avenue and Broadway in Midtown Manhattan, New York City. The building, originally built as the Gallo Opera House, opened in 1927, after which it changed names several times, eventually becoming CBS radio and television Studio 52.

While Ian Schrager — the Studio 54 co-founder-turned-high-end hotelier — plans a Rizzoli coffee-table book on his iconic disco, another of the club’s owners has written a behind-the-scenes memoir of its sex-and-drugs dark side. “My book is the true story about Studio 54,” says Mark Fleischman, who bought the club from Schrager and Steve Rubell in 1981 when the original duo served time for tax evasion. “Steve died in 1989 and Ian appears to be sanitizing what occurred,” Fleischman contends. “From my point of view, Studio 54 was the epicenter of the drug culture in New York.” 

Fleischman relaunched the club and “threw myself into it wholeheartedly, entertaining the biggest stars of the world with Champagne and cocaine,” including John Belushi, Andy Warhol, Keith Richards, Robin Williams and Christopher Reeve. “My best friend was Rick James.” VIPs gathered in Fleischman’s office, where there was so much white powder, he hired a staffer whose specialty was chopping “perfect” lines. “There were so many people at a long desk, you needed 30 or 40 lines of coke,” said Fleisch­man. “That takes a lot of time. You don’t want to make them uneven. I had a staffer — a very pretty girl” lining up the blow and Champagne.

Also think about this - It is commonly taught today that Jesus preached in parables because he wanted to make his message easily understood to uneducated common people.  But Jesus himself explained why He spoke in parables, and it is for the opposite reason - so that His message was NOT understood by most people.

Protocol is the ALWAYS link pastebin changes to original dough post. 
But you don't know that bc you are new and don't ask how it's done.
QR bakers have protocols like this for a reason. I suggested you follow them so bakers don't have to look everywhere for the current paste. 

Did you even post this raw dough  before? I searched on "raw d" and found nothing. Plz try to stay organized.

my tone was stronger than intended in the post i just sent to you. sorry, but you gotta get organized, it's not ok to ask bakers to look for pastes  at the end of bred when we are already so busy getting notes ready, responding to anon feedback on notes, and baking. I resigned as baker bc it was so much to do with so little support. I love to bake and will do it when i can--and also to support other baker, who does so much. But you need to be more aware of how to offer support.
